Josh Paris lost his R2 match to Liverpool's Adam Jones, who's been crowdfunding and doing bar work, and all the normal efforts to try and make ends meet as an aspiring player.
George Loffhagen has also won his first two matches.
And I'm watching out for Marcus Walters, in particular too, who I thought was very promising as a youngster, although very slight.
He's been in the States, at Tyler College (?) but has just moved to Florida State.
Great to see Marcus Walters using his quali wildcard, which he got on the back of his British Tour runner-up place above, to full advantage and making it all the way through to the MD.
Today's final of the Tier 2 event at Ilkley was played between two qualifiers with Hamish Stewart taking the crown with a 6-4 6-4 win over Christopher Edge.
The Tier 2 tournament at The Northumberland Club, Jesmond, Newcastle Upon Tyne is under way, with QF and SF due to be played today.
