At Sutton's annual 'mini Wimbledon' the men's draw is not quite as strong as it has been in recent years with Luke Johnson being the top seed, there are a few other ranked players and past great Jack Carpenter who has come through qualifying.

Interestingly Mark Whitehouse is playing mixed doubles but nothing else!

There is a Wayne Black playing men's doubles, I wondered if this was the old Zimbabwean player?

This event is always worth visiting, limited street parking but it's a nice club.

Love the way you call Jack C a "past great".  He was the first GB pro I saw play when I first got into tennis almost 10 years ago.  He was 18 at the time, playing futures here in Spain, and suffering a bit with a heal injury but you could see he hit a decent ball even then.  If I remember correctly, Sutton is his home club.  Bet he still plays with that cap on back to front as well.

Just to note that one of the real youngsters I follow closely, Yujiro Onuma, born 2004, has just beaten Patrick Foley, ATP 1295 and third seed.

In the SFs, Sean Hodkin def. Matt Summers 6-0 6-3, and

Alexis Canter def. James Davis 4-6 6-1 10-5

As Oakie says on another thread, it's very impressive to see Sean's success, without any junior track record, or college/uni place, and very little to no help from the LTA.

Another one goes down to the wire as Sean Hodkin beats Alexis Canter 3-6 7-6(5) 13-11

Bravo to Sean - £2k is a slug of money - and that's a clutch win.
