Week 44 - ITF ($60K) - Liuzhou, China Hard

I get nervous when someone goes MIA (RJA a great example), the majority of you are older than me (no offence intended) and I fear the worst!! I know I rarely post, but generally its a great lil community and you feed me knowledge which Im thankful for ahah

Not a link to ISF but you will see her Icon 2 weeks ago. I've not tried to make contact.

I've taken steps to clarify ISF's situation in another thread, maybe we should put any further posts in there - britishtennis.activeboard.com/t65057020/insomniacfolder/

Katie breaks to 30 with some aggressive play to take the first set 6-3.

well done katie
taking advantage of a useful draw
potenshial oponnents are the extremes of a wr275 qualifier or yafan wang wr86
wr86 in a $60K bVYTXQJ.gif

but i guess you got to start beating those players on a reguler basis sometime

so if that match up does hapen here in china why not start this week adding to the one ch best win better than wr86 that she has managed already in her career
that wr36 win over begu at wimby this year - seems to still be her only top 100 win

she certainly capabel of doing it reguler:- )

Yafan was up 2-0 early break but is now currently 2-3 down a break.

This actually made me laugh - yep, it's the 'oldie' affliction - when the phone goes at some slightly strange time of the day and your instant reaction is 'who's died'???

Nice post, Jajon smile

NB I've posted in the ISF thread so moving back:

Well done, Katie - super run here - really pleased she's managed to put a few together like this.

Kai-Lin Zhang is a set and a break up on Yafan now. She's at 275 as Tom says and is nearly 29 so not promising junior or anything like the two X Wang's. Hopefully she sees it out

6-4 5-3* Zhang. She's a qualifier as well.

I won't keep bumping this thread with non (direct) GB score updates, but Yafan came back to take the 2nd set on the tie break, so they're into a decider there and you'd have to think the top 100 player would be a clear favourite to progress and set up that Swan SF.

It is Yafan Wang next for Katie next as she comes through 4-6 7-6 6-4 against the qualifier. Shame because if would have been easier on paper, but as Tom says we'd hope Katie would be competitive against these type of players sooner rather than later. Still, Katie finished her match a long time ago so will have much more recovery time and if a 275 qualifier can get to a position of serving for the match, hopefully Katie can as well.

Also, if they put this match on as late as possible for extra recovery time for Wang, then as it's streamed, we might be able to watch at a decent time, like 8am or something rather than 4am.

Sorry to disappoint you, but it's the second match on - not before 4.30am
