I don't think anyone has any points to defend (unless from challengers) as next week, last year was week 1 of the French so no points were gained by anyone.
In order to gain any points, rather than lose them both Greg and Tim must earn more than 25points as this is a mandatory tournament so will replace their 18th results regardless of whether its an improvement or not.

The points to defend next week are from St Polten - none of the Brits are affected, but some of the Hamburg entrants will be. Otherwise as Imoen says, it is a case of doing better than the 18th result. Monfils in the first round really worries me as he is right in form at the moment which is more than we can say of Andy, and a loss in the first round would mean another drop in points.
Greg should win round 1 against a qualifer but Gaudio Round 2 will be tough but saying that he beat Robredo so who knows. I hope Tim plays a challenger but don't think he is.
Monfils worries me as well, I'm hoping that he is fatigued having got to at least the semis in Rome.
Looking at the draw, there is no one else really in Andy's quarter that he can't beat(no Nadal, or Federer, Davydenko is the highest ranked seed), it all depends on his form. Either way I don't think we can blame the draw for any results this week.

I think the answer to that is no. And he is too late for a wildcard, they will all have been given out by now surely. He will just have to sit at home and watch his competitors pass him, or not, as the case may be.
Even if there were another 2 very late withdrawals, I'm not sure when the cut-off point is for when the places are given to qualifying lucky losers as opposed to alternates.
