Ugh yes, that's not a great result but their conquerors, the top seeds are ranked well above even the 2nd seeds in the draw (combined rank 460), who Lissey and Eden beat earlier. So Lissey and Eden's turn to take on the top two.

F: Alicia Barnett/ Eden Silva (GBR/GBR) 1097 (524+573) vs Katarzyna Piter/ Barbora Stefkova (POL/CZE) [1] 357 (239+118)

Well, neither of our pair will be fancied to win, so they can relax and just go out there and play their shots...

R16: Eden SILVA (GBR) [Q] 485 vs Miriam KOLODZIEJOVA (CZE) [8] 264 (CH:256 July 18)
R32: Maia LUMSDEN (GBR) 415 vs Dejana RADANOVIC (SRB) [2] 205 (CH:187 July 18)

Maybe she's listening to you, Michael, as Maia takes the first set in a tie-break.....

Well, if she is, hope she keeps going the same way and stays relaxed second set too...

Don't know about relaxed at the start - Maia was 2-5* down, but must have gone for it from then !

Maia wins the third set 6-2, easy peasy.

Great result - really ran away with it over the last four games.
BTW, that was a R16 match, not R32 as noted above

Brilliant performance from Maia, by far her best result for a long time - well since Feb at least!
Her net 8 points from so far this week will also lift her back past Fran into the GB #9 position again in 10 days time. More important though they will also lift her to the cusp of the top 400, which will be the next target for this middle cohort, who will get their first? She may already make it, but one more win would guarantee she will for sure.

And, being a 25k, these will all be WTA points for next year, not just ITF points.

Yes this group - Maia, Fran, Jodie, Beth, Eden, Sam, Freya, Lissey, Emily A - are all playing 25ks now for this reason, with Fran and Emily having to make the largest conversion of points, as has been discussed elsewhere.  Maia currently has just 16 pts from 15k events - a 12 and a 4 pointer, and both will fall off during November, so by the end of the year all her counters will be at 25k level and above.

Eden did take the first set, 6-3, but lost the second 2-6. Opponent serving first in the decider.

Was going with serve in the decider, but Eden has just win 3 games in a row and is just one way now.

5-3*

Wow, two super results from France today, two very unexpected and welcome wins.

They play each other next too, so one of them is going to reach the SF.

R16: Eden SILVA (GBR) [Q] 485 beat Miriam KOLODZIEJOVA (CZE) [8] 264 (CH:256 July 18) 6-3 2-6 6-4
R16: Maia LUMSDEN (GBR) 415 beat Dejana RADANOVIC (SRB) [2] 205 (CH:187 July 18) 7-6(5) 3-6 6-2

QF: Maia LUMSDEN (GBR) 415 vs Eden SILVA (GBR) [Q] 485
