Week 41 - ITF ($25K) - Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, France Hard

Harmony Tan did beat Hesse, so the bottom half looks like:

QF - Harmony Tan 371 (CH 324) vs Mallaurie Noel 722 (CH 680)
QF - Maia Lumsden vs Eden Silva

Good chance for either of our players to reach the final now, although Tan would probably be favourite to get there.

You mean the specific amount of points declared in advance and given for specific variations from actual GB and world rankings ( the further away the less points ) is very subjective.

Got you   biggrin

Yep Id say actual comments made beat a 2 minute ranking prediction for fun (and hope rather than belief incidentally). Honestly yourself and Coup Droit are rather pathetic in your attempt here. Im torn between laughing at you and pitying you both for being sad enough to bother. Really clutching at straws guys, this forum has some of the most blue blinkered fans Ive ever came across. The type of people who wear Union Jack T-shirts on holiday as well.

Jaggy, Jaggy, what the heck has political affinity got to do with whether we think predictions are better than random comments or vice versa?

Where is the logical connection in that? That's just a cheap pot shot. (From the person who has never voted Tory, ever - not that I have any problem at all with people who have/do but just pointing out the nonsense of your assumptions).

And the problem with going for 'actual comments' as opposed to a '2 minute ranking prediction' (ummm, can't actual comments be a 2-minute effort too?) is that many people post contradictory comments (not a criticism of them, opinions can change), or post comments covering lots of eventualities - so it's convenient to remember the ones you want to remember and not the others. And they're dotted all over the place so not easy to access.

The useful thing about the predictions game, which is just a game, true, but so are the comments (unless you bet on them, which I do, but even then it could be considered a game) is that they are set down, for a point in time, with a specific end, and cannot then be wriggled out of.

To be fair CD, Jaggy has been known to particularly advise us to remember some prediction comments.

Such as last May when we were advised that : "This time next year Cam will be ahead of Kyle in the rankings and Gabi above Heather. Flag this up."

There was later a more bullish earlier suggestion for Gabi's takeover of Heather. But it would be only fair to let them both fully roll out to next May given Heather has rather stolen a march.

All the best to all four of these players, and let's hope they have a really good next 6 months or so and then see how they stand.

Apologies people, but there is just so much bull**** one can take in a day.

Putting political beliefs and prior predictions to one side, I see the bookies have Maia and Eden the same odds tomorrow. Thought Maia might have been a reasonably clear favourite. Nice to see both putting wins together though and a big opportunity for them both.

could post a list of jags coments that just rubbish over many years coz we all speak tosh on ocasion some more than other like me biggestgrin
pretending otherwise just callow

but as he did shoehorn in politics i get to take a drink at least

i dont think there a stream is there be good to see these two again some of the French events have coverage but usualy the higher ones like there 100k
good week but they both need like a lot of our ladies to put a run of good weeks on the bounce or a grate week - final or something like that
is ocacional peaking better than stedy frequency of results without steller weeks to break through the next barriers for each?

Nervy start from both girls ? Maia breaks back to love, then Eden breaks to 15. But Maia breaks back after a game that actually goes to deuce.

Who holds wins in this match. Eden got the crucial holds end of the first set, who will manage it this set? Two breaks so far, but Eden looking for the first hold... which she does to love. Eden 6-3 2-1* Common Maia, what you've got?

Maia holds serve in the eighth game, and they are back on serve at 4-4 (6 breaks this set)

Maia gets a crucial hold, just the second hold in this second set so far. Maia's second serve saving her since her first serve is being eviscerated - just 33% won Eden 6-3 4-4

Eden another hold, and she is on the threshold now. She has 4 holds so far in the match, Maia only 2, but she has to hold now to stay in the match.
Eden 6-3 5-4*
