hope something change for appleton then
5 md entries and 3 q entries yet to score a point
win today was just 3rd from the 8 events
not won 2 matches in a 25k this year
tommorrow be the day she take the next small step up?
But was a break up in the second too and has just broken back.
Armitano is a classic mid-range French player, still young (age 21), done a lot of serious tennis growing up (FFT academies from the age of 12, national championships, etc.), won a 15k titles in singles recently and a 25k title in doubles.
But she's nothing that special, nothing that makes you think she's suddenly going to break into the top 300, more likely fairly ranked at 600 or so and will continue to move upwards, slowly.
Well done, Eden. Glad you didn't make it any more difficult than it need be.
Nicely into the main draw.
Emily App's opponent is very well know to GB players - lost to Tiff one week, beat her the next; lost to Alicia at CHiswick; age 22, rather similar to Armitano above, just another mid-range player, but probably fractionally not even as good - her ranking is very much based on one good trip out to South Africa. (That said, Emily App doesn't have the best track record of quality wins either)

And some intriguing doubles pairings. Top seeds are Beth and EWS! Emily App is also in the doubles with an old partner, whilst Eden is playing with a former partner of Lissey Barnett. I'll add rankings later when I have more time.
