Week 39 - ATP 250 - Shenzhen Open, Shenzhen, China (hard)

On Steven's table it looks really odd to see a big smiley face next to Mr Murray's name for getting to an ATP 250 quarter final!

No SE for Norrie next week as Fritz and Herbert win today.

He has another 90 points to defend next week as well - he better win title this week!

Is Cam due to play qualies this weekend? Although presumably getting to the SF here could scupper that?

SF: (1) Ben McLachlan (JPN) & Joe Salisbury CR 63 (21+42) def. (3) Roman Jebavy & Andrés Molteni (CZE)/ARG) CR 97 (50+47) 6-4 7-6(4)

That's Joe's first ATP final

Allez, Joe (and Ben) !

QF:  (5) Fernando Verdasco (ESP) WR 28 defeated (WC) Andy Murray WR 311 by 4 & 4  cry

Verdasco continues to take advantage of Andy's lack of match fitness.  hmm

And that is that for Andy's 2018 year as he has withdrawn from Beijing.

Nishioka has made it to the final where he will play Pierre Hughes-Herbert. Verdasco double faulted on MP (very Fiasco-like).

Im not really sure what to make of Murrays 2018 form. Promising glimpses but probably more disappointments with his continued recovery struggles. If the recovery continues at the same pace, much into 2019, I am not sure he will continue passed Wimbledon, thoughts? How did he look against Goffin?

I don't think Goffin was fully fit either as he's subsequently withdrawn from Tokyo and Beijing. I have no idea how Andy played though.
