Heather breaks for *4-3.

Fernandez is clearly a talent with big shots, and a lovely drop shot, but you feel if Heather can stay patient and keep moving her around, she should take this.

Two further holds and another nice drop shot by Fernandez.

Watson serving for the set *5-4.

Takes the set on her 3rd set point (none consecutive). 6-4.

This is making Emma Raducanu's win at Wimbledon look impressive, whatever the outcome :)

4 straightforward serves to start the 2nd set. Fernandez twice to love and Watson one to love and one to 15. 2-2*

Heather broke the next game and then had her first uncomfortable service game since the fist game of the match, saving 2 BPs. A first failed drop shop from Fernandez.

4-2*

Hev had 2 individual MPs, but Fernandez held, so hopefully she can serve this out next and I can get to bed.

6-4 *5-4

Crowd stating to get more into it now as well.

Another chance to serve it out. Breaks to 30. *6-5

Late call in Waton's favour and Fenandez didn't look happy about it.

Come on Hev, avoid that tie breaker.

Held to 15 and sealed it with an ace (just her 2nd of the match) and wins 6-4 7-5. Really competitive but job done - provisionally in the top 100 again I think.

Garcia Perez or another Canadian WC Marino next in the quarters.

:)

Glad I couldn't see that - watching Hev is never easy - saved a night behind the sofa. Well done Hev biggrin

Nice to see a relatively (ahem) comfortable win for Hev - her opponent is junior world no. 13 at 16, so I wasn't expecting it to be completely one-sided.

She should now be back in the top 100 - I think there are still enough players alive here and in Hiroshima to stop her but she'd be very unfortunate if enough results went against her to keep her out.
