Afternoon tea at Browns is my wifes favourite ever thing! Shes now a Katie B fan!

 Browns is the best!

Weve only actually ever been once! And got it free! We went at Easter several years ago. It was lovely. They brought out these eggs filled with something lovely and the waiter says the best bit of this is the egg itself is chocolate so you can eat it. Lovely we think, take a chunk of egg shell and start crunching - and I mean crunching! It wasnt chocolate, it was real egg shell! Mortified manager comes running over, luckily we saw the funny side. but the good news was our bill was waived!

we really loved the place, good, atmosphere and say we will go back but havent got round to it. But its our favourite place for afternoon tea despite going just the once!

I actually stayed there once. I don't know how but I booked it months in advance and somehow got a (relatively) cheap rate. It was a very special occasion and we did the whole London theatre, museums, dinners out thing. I live in London suburbs so it was ridiculously indulgent but it was so special to walk back to the room rather than commute everywhere and it was luxury and comfort without ever feeling awkward or patronised. Just lovely as an incredibly special treat. And the hotel just smells so good - they won't tell you the scent as it's a special concoction just for them!

Having said that I've idly browsed prices since and never seen it anywhere near the price I got it for so maybe it was a one-off piece of luck!

That sounds fab! Nothing wrong with the odd bit of indulgence - we stayed in a Harrogate hotel called Rudding Park one weekend for a spa weekend around 10 years ago, just because we wanted to get away from the house and life etc - its only 2 miles from where we live, haha. But weve only done that once and money isnt so plentiful now!

I'll put it on my list.

Apologies for anyone looking for some interesting insights on Katie and instead are faced with lovely hotels I have stayed in!

smile

There's hardly any privacy issue once she's put it on her Insta page biggrin

Excellent FT article about Katie and her brother, and their careers, their relationship, the crossover etc

It comes up for me without any firewall

Thanks for the link to that article - a lengthy, interesting and well written piece.

On a different subject, does anyone know why Katie has not been playing lately? I did hear something on the grapevine, but trust it is not correct. Not divulging what though, as I think it just feeds the false rumour mill, or BS, whichever you like to call it.

With last year's terrific WTA 500 San Diego title points dropping off next Monday, Katie will drop enough out of the top 32 ( currently live ranked 37 ) to miss out on a seeding and a R1 bye for Miami. I believe that the current rankings will apply for Indian Wells so OK for there.

Having been missing of late though, will she be playing these at all?
