No doubt Katie has the shot making ability to be a top player but as shown yesterday she needs to learn how to play on clay. It would be pretty difficult to maintain a top 30 spot for a long time without at least being slightly competitive on all surfaces.

Looks like she might be learning quite quickly. That was a superb win today. Especially after being annihilated yesterday.
Congratulations to Katie B who successfully defended her WTA250 title in Nottingham on 16/06/2024,
The last time a British woman successfully defended her title appears to be 50 years ago when Virginia Wade won Bournmouth in 1973 and 1974
Thank you 9vicman for that gem from your research.
Also as a significant side note, Jack D also won-his first ATP title (ATP250 in Stuttgart)- on 16/06/2024. Thanks again to 9vicman the last time a
British woman won a WTA title and a British man won an ATP title on the same day appears to be on 18 April 1971 (Roger Taylor and Ann Jones)
Afternoon tea at Browns is my wifes favourite ever thing! Shes now a Katie B fan!
Browns is the best!
Weve only actually ever been once! And got it free! We went at Easter several years ago. It was lovely. They brought out these eggs filled with something lovely and the waiter says the best bit of this is the egg itself is chocolate so you can eat it. Lovely we think, take a chunk of egg shell and start crunching - and I mean crunching! It wasnt chocolate, it was real egg shell! Mortified manager comes running over, luckily we saw the funny side. but the good news was our bill was waived!
we really loved the place, good, atmosphere and say we will go back but havent got round to it. But its our favourite place for afternoon tea despite going just the once!

I actually stayed there once. I don't know how but I booked it months in advance and somehow got a (relatively) cheap rate. It was a very special occasion and we did the whole London theatre, museums, dinners out thing. I live in London suburbs so it was ridiculously indulgent but it was so special to walk back to the room rather than commute everywhere and it was luxury and comfort without ever feeling awkward or patronised. Just lovely as an incredibly special treat. And the hotel just smells so good - they won't tell you the scent as it's a special concoction just for them!
Having said that I've idly browsed prices since and never seen it anywhere near the price I got it for so maybe it was a one-off piece of luck!

That sounds fab! Nothing wrong with the odd bit of indulgence - we stayed in a Harrogate hotel called Rudding Park one weekend for a spa weekend around 10 years ago, just because we wanted to get away from the house and life etc - its only 2 miles from where we live, haha. But weve only done that once and money isnt so plentiful now!
