They seem to be having a bit of a mare with it. Its quite alright though as I was focussed on Dams game really, with the Russia-Egypt match on the tele for good measure :)

Kyle's win means he has already covered his entire grass court points hall for last season. However, he will have to win at least 2 more rounds here though to have a chance of improving on his live ranking of 17, and with Kyrgios and Djokovic waiting to pounce, he may still find himself going backwards, albeit slightly. Of course, a win in the next round would see off Kyrgios, although I don't like the match up. Kyrgios starts favourite for me, assuming he turns up.

On another note, Raonic, who won by retirement today, has himself pulled out giving reigning champion Feli Lopez a w/o into the QFs. If Kyle can get the better of Kyrgios, he wil meet Lopez in that QF match.

So good to see Andy back on court - and a good showing from him I thought - much better than we had dared hope for smile
Well done Kyle
Oh Dan, I thought that one was in the bag cry

Can I get away with that one ?  After the day I have had, I am surprised there was only one typo to be honest.

Sorry.  Just couldn't resist pointing it out - made me giggle almost as much as the time I once saw "débâcle" (OK, original French accents not absolutely essential) spelt "debarkle" on another message board, proof, it were needed, of the general ignorance of the spelling of loan words from other languages & people's insistence on spelling those words as they hear them rather than taking the trouble to look them up.  OK, I'll be charitable & let you off that one.  Had a bad day, have you?

Bad ? No.  Long ? Yes.  Actually managed to sell a house and have been doing contracts all day.

Did get to watch most of Andy's match though.  Was highly impressed with his form.  Unfortunately for me they put Kyle on the red button which I don't have here.

Ah, OK.  Congrats on selling a house.  I didn't reaaly see any of Andy's match:  it started before I left work towards the end of the second set, which, to be honest I thought he'd lose, & it had just finished when I reached home.  For what it's worth Sue, "Legs" & Bouncy seemed to think he'd acquitted himself well on his return.  I, being in the UK, was able to switch to the red button & watch most of Kyle's match, though it was hardly a show-stopper.  He got the job done, however, & that's the main thing.

Great win for Kyle, still a couple of years off his best.

If the like of Querrey, Bautista and co. are anything to go by, he's about 5-8 years away from his best.

Great variations of course across the board.

With the improvements Kyle has shown this year would certainly hope he has years of further improvement.

But he is also at an age where you want to do the very best you can in the here and now. And the longer you are up among the very top players the better - ie I am sure that he wants to have rather longer at the top table than year X.

Not seen any of the tennis today.

But well done Kyle. We have a main draw winner this week, yay    Hopefully the Ilkley girls can get something going tomorrow. Need Jon more employed in updating his grass wins table.

And the day seems to have actually gone quite encouragingly for Andy in spite of many of our doubts. Still feels a bit of a race against time for Wimbledon but he's taken important initial steps towards a proper comeback.

Yes. Really pleasantly surprised by Andy's form and fitness - lovely to see him back and looking happy.

Real shame for Dan - that was one that really got away at the last minute. But, again, good level.

And we so nearly had three through to the second round......

I am personally of the opinion that Andy being beaten was the best outcome and assess where he is at/how he recovers from a proper tennis match, not just practice.

Good for Kyle, will be interesting to see how he gets on with Nick. Again, glad that the Andy/Kyle R2 match didn't happen, might have been like the first time Andy beat Tim, a real watershed moment.

Pretty bad from Dan, from reading his match review and managing to lose such a big lead but something he can work on and he has played an awful lot of tennis recently, might be good to have a few days off. Is Dan playing next week?

Ugly choke from Murray but on the positive side it looks like he came through unscathed and I suppose this is a learning experience of sorts.
