My guess is that players above 36 in the alternate list and who are not in the main or qualifying draw did not sign in today. It would be very wrong if Emma Hurst attended and did not get a QWC.
As for the 'mystery' MDWC-I think it will either be a late entry who has lost in Paris.. or possibly Gemma Heath who is local. I note that Kimberley Birrell (AUS) was not in the entry but has a QWC.
Nell is one counter ( ie one qualifying win here ) off being ranked. Emilie Lindh Gallagher, mentioned in the Israel 15K thread ( though rather more because she is not playing ), is our only other player currently on 2 counters.
I think the last direct entry into qualifying is Nadia Gilchrist who was 14th alt when the entry list was last updated.
Lillian Mould has a QWC but was 36th alternate. There would seem to be no obvious reason for her to have received a wild card unless if it was merely reward for signing in.

Laura Sainsbury and Anna Popescu also have 2 counters. Anna was an Alt here. Both are entered into Manchester and Ilkley.

Remember that British Tour wins give wildcards into qualis (and main draws) of ITF events (supposedly 25ks but we have so few the LTA might move them over into other events too).
Not saying it applies to Lily - no idea - but it might.
Otherwise, you'd expect the wildcards to be given to youngsters (who the LTA favour), that's part of the point of them, so it doesn't seem strange that she's got one.

Yes, as previously, I'd expected to see Gemma on the list. (As well as Ola Pitak). In fact, if she's not there at all, I'd be worried something's wrong.
Spot on CD, Lilian won a Grade 2 tournament in Loughborough in September - but I thought you had to win three of them to get a WC. Also made the SF at Billssley (Grade1). She played a lot of junior events last year, so that would have got her noticed as well.
Giving a MDWC to a player who only needs one more counter (eg Nell Miller or Anna Popescu) would be a totally sensible thing to do. I suspect, however, that the LTA do not even look at or probably even know about the situation of such players!
