Very good players will always have to play up to progress and most girls destined to be top 20 by age would be on this sort of trajectory. There are already 3 girls including the no 1 Marta Kostyuk (130) that are 2002 born in the WTA rankings of players not yet 18 which is consistent with beating players ranked outside the top 500.
