Dan seems to be serving much better this week than in Glasgow (indeed he said so himself in the interview above). Looks like he must have been working on it .
2-3 down second set on service. He also seems to be playing comfortably, happy to win sets with just the odd break, not overextending. Possibly aiming to conserve energy and try and go deep here but also probably aware he could face a 5, 6 , 7 week run on the grass which will give him plenty of tennis and no point wasting energy now!
Great to see Evo so pumped and full of energy in that TB. I don't think Simon missed a 1st serve in the breaker so it was a terrific effort from Evo to come through that. So 5 more ranking points in the bag and a chance to increase that in the MD.
MD qualifier slots are
(7) David Guez
Bradley Mousley
Luke Bambridge
(2) Max Purcell
Re the points, this one always catches people out.
R1 losers in the MD get ZERO points, but there are still 5 points for coming through qualies. They show up on the qualifying draw sheet but not on the MD draw sheet. It is the reverse with prize money, where there is nothing for coming through qualifying but R1 losers get prize money.

Those 5 points from quailes will push Evo up to just outside the top 1000, though Im sure were all hoping/expecting him to add a few more this week. If he can stay fit and not run out of gas he should be able to go deep in a field of this quality (or otherwise) youd think.
Excellent - looking at the draw from Dan's perspective:
Guez would then give him Miedler next, chance for refenge if he can get through Guez, who he has beaten on their one occasion in 2 straight comfortable sets
Mousley - then Ante Pavic the 5th seed after that
Bambridge - and then Purcell the 2nd seed next or
Purcell - 2nd seed and then Bambo after that.
I would probably prefer Guez to be honest, or Bambo.
