Literally one mens seed left, and the 8th at that, left in the singles draw.

Such a good chance for Dan and Jimbo!

Well "or" rather than "and", unfortunately!

Well hitting back with the pedanticism, surely it's "and" rather than "or", as while they can't both win it, they both can.

 Good point.

Mr Evans gets broken for the first time in a while.

Hadn't been aware of him. But he has just turned 19, has a JCH 7, and his pretty limited senior outings in the last year have produced ranking points almost entirely from a couple of challengers - qualifying and reaching the SF in Prague and qualifying and reaching the QF in Ningbo.

Basically his WR 533 is of very little real relevance.

Didn't stop him choking when in sight of the finish line. Having broken Evo to go *4-3 up, he threw in a couple of DFs to allow Evo to break back. Suddenly Evo is on fire and holds to love. He now leads 5-4* in the 2nd.

Evo broken again so must break back to stay in the match and force a second set TB.

4-6 5-6*

And such thoughts were swiftly crushed.

Beaten by 6-4 7-5

Not a bad showing from Evo so early on his come back. His opponent was simply better and certainly served better.

Encouraging signs though

Well f******g up the fitness regime.

His opponent also had 3 qualifying matches, just at this stage is no doubt generally much fitter.

Looks as if matches are part of what Dan needs !

 I didn't hear that.

That takes a bit of the sheen of his performance / attitude for me. Without sounding like a Debbie Downer, he's had a year to maintain a relative level of fitness to come back at Challenger level. I know True match fitness can really only be met by playing matches but he has had a year to build to this moment. He wasn't injured, I read somewhere that he only 'recently started practicing again'. if you are tired, suck it up, don't complain like you've been done hard by. I guarantee Andy will be working on any fitness regime that permits his return.

Whilst I think his punishment was a tad hard, he still f***ed up (again) and STILL hasn't lost major financial support to come back. I think many will be watching his early comeback /behavior and he should be very careful about what he says /how he performs. That financial support will certainly have conditions on both of those. There will be a fine line to losing everything if he isn't careful at this stage of his career. Perhaps he shouldn't have received any wild cards making him have to qualifying for 15k like everyone else starting form 0 points. That would be another way to improve your fitness like everyone else on 0 points?

There would be an argument to say that LTA should stop his funding (as he could easily survive on the tour with his earnings) and give that funding to youngsters. That isn't my argument, just shut up Dan! sigh

To give him the benefit of the doubt, he may have just been bemoaning the fact of the situation, rather than complaining or resenting that he had to do that.
