All the girls' rankings have gone up this week, by a touch, for admin reasons
Still a very large gap in quantity, and quality, between the girls and boys
Looking at all this from the other angle of course. Professional tennis players are competing well into their 30's now and nearly 40 which is great to see.
Gone are the days when you need to have it all at 14/15 and be world #1 at 18.
As long as our juniors are progressing well and enjoying what they do is the main thing.
Yes, that was sort of my point too
There are a lot of ways to succeed and what you're doing at age 17 is not that crucial
However, it's curious to note it
25/07/22
Will Jansen is continuing his good show on grass - his game suits it and it's the second year in a row that he's come into his own in the grass season
Having made R2 at the 25k at Roehampton last week, he is now:
1549 (+327) William Jansen (age 17, born 2004) (CH)
And also won his QR1 match yesterday at Nottingham
Also, welcome to Lui Maxted (2004) to the doubles rankings - having made the semis at Roehampton (with Finn Murgett), he's come in at ATP 1453
In the girls, a little shout to Jasmine (2004) for having now got into the top-700 (+4 to WTA 697)
And to Kristina Paskauskas (2004) - up 48 to WTA 1460, thanks to an extra point for having made the main draw of Roehampton
