Congrats to Nell Miller (born Feb 2000) who got her first ever WTA ranking this week.
(Although if someone could explain to me why it says she has three points and then when you click on her results, it gives three counters which add up to five points????)
Oh, you are looking at the WTA site. Slight problem is that any points for someone starting in qualifying are doubled in the WTA matches summary. I believe that happens with everyone and has ever since that last wonderful WTA site revamp.
25K - qualified for MD R1 - 1 point, not 2
15K - direct entry, made MD R2 - 1 point, all agree
100K - made QR2 - 1 point, not 2
So she does have 3 points from 3 counters. I've never seen the actual points in the rankings table being wrong but that matches summary, oh yes ...
If someone comes through qualifying and wins the title at Wimbledon, the WTA matches summary will undoubtably show them as having earned 4080 points rather than 2040!
May be too much of an ask for Nell but Dans your man!
Indeed the most likely way that that could happen is a player coming back off a drugs ban.
Maria Sharapova who I hold solely responsible for ruining Tennis on the basis that there is a remote possibility that her potential involvement in Wimbledon qualifying resulted in the (best value event in world sport) event becoming ticketed could have raked in those 4000 plus points

Great experience for all three youngsters just to get a feel of main draw challenger Tennis, all with time on their hands to make an impression at this level.
