GB Player of the Month

Might be worth noting that at British Tour Level, Amelia Rajecki won in Billesley in the ladies side and George Houghton won at the same venue in the mens, just in case these become relevant to the Player of the Month deliberations.

So for March we are down to last weeks events and half a week this week and maybe some British Tour play ( will any of our top players play on that circuit over next month or so?).

We have brydan and sam nominated. I guess I'll see if anyone comes through at British Tour level and then run a poll in early April as planned

The way things are looking, I think we should just give Heather the Player of the Year title based on Feb and start again next year.  no

I hope I am wrong.

I voted for Heather for February.

But overall I'd make Dan player of the year so far, ahead of Joe and Heather.

I see there is one more british tour event at tier 1 level in march, so that will be interesting.

April has just one event starting april 27, at Bournemouth, and that may end up as the only event brits play in april!

In the interests of reflecting the new world we are currently in, and the fact the British Tour is where we are currently at in terms of tennis, and will be for March, then I thought I would also nominate the British Tour winners in the month into the March player of the month nominations. So that would add Amelia Rajecki and George Houghton, both won the Tier 2 event in Billesley.
The tier 2 in Edgbaston this week and the Tier 1 event in Bolton will both potentially add to this list for March. April currently has the Tier 2 in Bournemouth, and then whatever might happen w.c. 27th April will count as well.

Bogota is still alive apparently, on WTA Tour, not sure any Brits would play that event if it happens still?

Full list in alphabetical surname order is:

George Houghton
Brydan Klein
Sam Murray-Sharan
Amelia Rajecki

No, the WTA have cancelled Bogota and Guadalajara, Mexico - statement released overnight.

At this moment, the British Tour events haven't been cancelled yet.

There are generally less people at a British Tour event than you'd get at an average bus stop .... or sitting in one row at Pret (which was heaving yesterday)

ok, thanks I missed that - it did seem strange Bogota wasnt initially cancelled, WTA approach seemed more dribs and drabs than the ATP and ITF who seemed more decisive on it

Congrats to Val Bhunu and Jake Hersey on their wins and I'm going to add Jake to the list and hopefully Val, although I'm not entirely clear if she is British qualified, or Zimbabwean? Despite being Lancashire registered?

Added for now, anyone with clarity , please advise

list in alphabetical surname order is:

Val Bhunu Tbc
Jake Hersey
George Houghton
Brydan Klein
Sam Murray-Sharan
Amelia Rajecki

The ITF have Val down as Zimbabwean. I think the Lancashire registration was just so she could play this tournament, as she has no other playong history listed on the LTA website.

Have come across Miss Bhunu.  She is definitely Zim - no UK links at all.
