GB Player of the Month

Technical question: some of this weekends action and results/achievements will actually take place in March.
What is the rule to be?

  • Achievements by the month in which the tournament in which they occurred started, and thus not considered for the subsequent month - potentially the month of the best result from said tournament?
  • Achievements only considered in the Month of the actual final best result?
  • Either/Both, can qualify for two months?

Somewhere up the thread we decided it would be when the event started. Eg tomorrows finals include emma and jack and they would count in february.

Hope that makes sense, it was discussed a couple of pages or three earlier in the thread.

Ie February in fact ends on march 1st. Next month, march would in fact run to april 5th. So the final will always get taken into account as part of the whole tournament

Thanks

Thank you. I skimmed the rest of the thread for an answer but must have missed it. Apologies for the duplication.

It was in first page in fact.

By the way I didnt answer your question re what happens if we have a month of no particular merit. I guess in that case, wed have no nominations to vote on? Luckily February seems to have been a decent month and january had a slam winner, so decent start to the year !

If we are running this on an ongoing basus, or at least Jon is , I think we should always have a player ( or players ) of the month. We must be able to find someone!

I'd add in Emma R for February now, even before her final.

Yes. The point is to find the most noteworthy player of the month - if the bar is low that month, it's low. But there's always someone who is most noteworthy....

Agreed, and the poll will find out who we all think that person is.

From this month, only player still in contention to make the list is Jack Draper (Sunderland final, 10-2 w/l record on month) .

When I post the poll, and given the above, I might post it tomorrow (Sunday) night - as I am not sure who will suddenly come running into view and blindside us on Monday. I have written a little summary of each nominees performance over the month, and will post that alongside the poll

Well I pretty much had my mind made up, but Heather has certainly set the cat among my pigeons in that regard. I will await Jon's player summary before finally deciding.

I'll post the poll and summary this evening once today's finals have shaken out for Emma and Jack, and to see if Jack makes the nominations list.

It's going to be very tough to choose one winner this month!

An individual nomination for Hannah Klugman ( apparently only recently turned 11 ), winner this week of the big Auray U12 event in addition to her earlier big part in the success of the already nominated GB U12 Girls Team.
