Weve a bt premier next week, two more UK pro events in july and the new battle of brits, plus ongoing world team tennis(!). So much could happen and on the womens side, several could pip him with good ongoing form. If dan comes out for the next battle of brits and does well.

Not sure when dan and kyle might head for Washington, though, must be soon and probably wont play BotB?

Yeah, if the vote is purely on court, then it can't really be anyone else as it stands. I've not seen any of his 15 matches, so obviously no bias there whatsoever, but 15 wins and 3 titles speaks for itself, and some of them he was coming into the match as an underdog, so not a case of being an obvious standout in every event.

It'll take something special in the coming weeks to beat, or perhaps relatively beat, his on court achievements, but then there will be other reasons and factors why people might vote elsewhere.

He'd get my vote if it closed tonight.

With the announcement of the 3 new British Tour events behind closed doors in August and September, we now have a structure that looks like:

July - up to end Week 4 of UK Pro Series and end of the initial series of BT Summer events

August - weeks 5 and 6 of UK Pro Series, plus Weeks 1 and 2 of the new BT events mentioned elsewhere - plus any ATP/WTA tennis that kicks off.

September - 3rd week of the new BT events, plus ATP / WTA events as above, plus ITF events may be able to start.

So it looks like we may be able to have decent Player of the Month votes from this point forwards, assuming no further lock downs etc

Todays results see Arthur Fery add to his resume with a win over Jonny Gray. Grace Piper also took a British Tour title for her first prominent showing since re start.
In Weybridge, Alastair Gray added to a decent run with a final win over Billy Harris and is probably not far from the above list; Naomi Broady is also a winner at SGH over Emily Appleton and is also probably starting to be a possible contender. If Naomi and Alastair add to the records this next week or two we may well see them on this list before the voting takes place.

Worth noting that Grace Piper (semis in BT Premier tomorrow) and Maia Lumsden (ditto UK Pro) have both won British Tour events Tier 1 earlier this summer. Naomi Broady won UK Pro last week, so a double this week would perhaps be impressive.

On the men's side, Billy Harris makes his 3rd straight semi in 3 weeks in UK Pro, one of which was in fact a final. Maybe a win this week will put one of these on someones radar as a contender.

Looking at the other 13 semifinalists, not sure any of them are close to being nominated even if they win this week, although someone may take another view.

Also worth noting, none of the 8 nominees to date have added to their palmares at all this week.

Grace and Maia haven't gone on to a 2nd seasons title this week, so leaves Naomi and Billy at St George's challenging for a nomination perhaps.

I'm also keeping an eye on Ken Skupski in WTT action, as he now leads the mens doubles rankings.

Just to note, I'll put the nominations poll up next sunday evening and leave it up for 24 hours til monday evening. From vast polling experience of late, 90 percent of votes are cast quickly, and leaving it for , say, 48 hours just drags it out and hardly adds any value.

I'll leave enough time on Sunday for any nominations from next weeks play to come in.

So , if you're keen to vote, make a note to get.on here between sunday evening, 2nd august, and monday night, 3rd august.

Emily Appleton says hi wink , although both in doubles (as a more current traditional singles player), and I'm not really sure how much relative weight today's success will have, but it is something concrete to add to her portfolio. She should really be a top 3 player next week at SGH, and if she can get to the final, or even better, win it, then she should be a pretty strong contender IMO.

As it stands, Fery would still get my vote.

What will be interesting is to see who does what in the team event and how to account for it. I hope the organisers keep a tally of points won per player, and promote it, but donr hold out hope. But a winning week for some like Dan, Katie B, Kyle , even Jamie (is jodie Burrage in the team event?) Could help their chances.
