Boys & Girls: 2018 Tennis Europe U14 Category 1 events

This week sees a major Category 1 event in Sweden where Brits have fared well in recent years. 4 of the top 5 ranked girls are here, so Matilda Mutavdzic (TE 5 currently) is just seeded 4.  She hammered a hapless Russian today, and is joined in round 2 by Hannah Smith, William Jansen and Hugo Cochlin. Four of the courts are streamed, though I don't think any of the Brits feature on them in singles tomorrow. Live matches and some of this week's previous matches are available at http://sportway.se/event/kungens-kanna-drottningens-pris/263 while http://www.kungenskanna.com/?page_id=462 has interviews with previous winners, including Jack Pinnington Jones and Joel Pierleoni.  Live scores from all courts are at http://scores.tennisticker.de/swe/sb.html?tournid=3621

Another easy win for Matilda, and she is joined in round 3 by Hugo. Their matches tomorrow follow each other on the streamed court 1 - matches start at 8.30am GMT, with Hugo taking on the third seed second on while Matilda follows with a potentially tricky match against a girl who was instrumental in propelling the Czechs to success in the U14 Winter Cup.

As feared Matilda found the Czech girl (Linda Fruhvirtova) too strong. It's a name to look out for in the future - Linda won the Orange Bowl under 12s and her younger sister Brenda is also progressing rapidly, leading the Czechs to the U12 Winter Cup and winning the U12 Eddie Herr. Hugo lost too.

Technically not an under 14 event, but this week has seen a leading under 12 event in Auray, France. 3 Brits made today's boys semis (confirming the strength shown in the TE Winter Cup). Henry Trump won the all-British semi against Jamie Diack, and takes on American Kaylan Bigun, who narrowly edged out Viktor Frydrych. Live scores for tomorrow's final can be found at scores.tennisticker.de/fra/sb.html while streaming of the match will be at www.youtube.com/user/OpenSuper12Auray Also on the YouTube channel are lots of matches from earlier this week, including today's semis, Vlada Kozak/Sophya Devas and others who lost earlier on. The afore mentioned Brenda Fruhvirtova is in an all Czech girls final

The final has just started in front of the usual big crowd (several hundred) with the American in the pink and black combo - both boys play left handed

There has been quite a few British winners here, including Andy Murray and most recently Holly Fischer, but Henry doesn't add to the list, going down 7-5 6-3 Strange watching no let tennis - Henry saved a set point with a dead netcord service

Just to mention that the girl who Vlada Kozak (GBR) beat at the Open 10-12 Boulogne-Billancourt (Shanice Roignot) has just gone on to win the French National Championships 11- 12 years.

She is now moving to the swanky new French National Tennis Centre (CNE) in Paris (Porte Molitor)

Bodes well for the level of Vlada.....
