We're a set away from history! (the BBC commentator is copying me even as I type this - I fear that confirms we're both just shamefully unoriginal)
6-3

" c) In the doubles, each team shall consist of two players, who shall play against the opposing team to the best of three sets with a tie break in the first two sets."

Japan win a long third game of set 2 multiple BP gone by. Take a strong lead in the set.
Kato's in a bit of a purple patch.
6-3 *0-3

Everything dropping in for Japan, and they're playing well now and roaring forward, 6-3 0-4*

Yes. I still think Annie K's 'low risk' match selections were actually quite high risk. Now I worry about Heather's stamina, in the face of having had two singles losses. The Japanese pair are fresh in all respects. I just hope that Heather can continue to knuckle down.

In addition if Jo and Heather DON"T win this, then Heather will be inconsolable and have a very deep psychological scar... so hope they can come back in the third, since this looks like going that far now, unless they pull a Katie B now.

Important to hold here, hopefully serve first in set 3 and build immeditae pressure - it's looking borderline overwhelmingly ominous.
6-3 *0-5

DO hold, then come out firing for service return winners and make most of them, and break, 6-3 *2-5
Still need to hold again, don't want to serve second in a third set.

How important was that 5th game... recovering those 3 BPs and holding...
