As usual we host a Category 1 under 14 event in the week before Les Petits As. Unusually we have the top seed in the girls event (Matilda Mutavdzic currently 6th in the Tennis Europe rankings). Matilda and the other two British seeds (Andrea Pineda and Patrick Brady, who has oscillated between representing Thailand and GB) are our only direct entrants for the prestigious French tournament.
Round 1 started today (the seeds received byes) with draws at http://te.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/draws.aspx?id=4FBAA943-F374-4B1F-83A7-67519A479923 and live scoring at http://scores.tennisticker.de/gbr/sb.html?tournid=3580
Matilda lost the first set to a Swedish qualifier but bounced back from that shock to double bagel her opponent and reach the quarter finals along with Sam - who has to face the Croatian top seed next. The other Brits lost though.
A very impressive win for Sam against the top seed, while Matilda again came back from losing the first set. As usual the US has brought over a strong contingent, with 5 making the semis, and two of them provide the opposition tomorrow
I don't know where the general thread for the U14 and U12 events has gone (the search function doesn't seem to find it) but just a little shout out to Bolton's Vlada Kozak who won the U12 event in Paris a couple of weeks ago.
