I love Heather but she is the most frustrating player to watch, with her level of play fluctuating wildly from game to game. She plays a few brilliant points and looks well in control and then dumps a couple of unforced errors in the net. Does anyone know what the situation is regarding her coach? I really feel she needs someone permanent to help steady her and get her playing more consistently at the level she's capable of.
Didn't think Heather played too bad overall - some absolutely sublime tennis mixed in with some really nervy stuff. As you say, a bit of a mixed bag. Definitely think she could've won. Regarding coaches I read an article (in the Times I think) this week where she said she had been working with Colin Beecher plus another coach whose name I can't recall (but not an English coach).

I do think that mixture at this stage in her career is very frustrating. There is a real player there bit still far too often nervy and / or indecisive. And thus too often "could've" is "didn't".

I agree she didn't play that badly, but feel this is the sort of match she should be winning. Putinseva is an ok player, but doesn't have any particular weapons to hurt Hev, and if she could just get some consistency in her play she could definitely come out on top. She's not a youngster any more and should be coming into her prime now, but I worry that the years are slipping by without her fulfilling her undoubted potential.

Fair enough, it really was her match to win but I just felt there was a lot of positive and confident play in there (albeit squandered by the nervy bits)
Just watching the match again on Eurosport having only seen it in patches whilst at work, and have to agree with the comments above. Lots of positive pay, but nervy at times, and hitting the ball the wrong side of the lines too often. I agree that a regular coach should steady the ship - and I can't really see that Lloyd is the right person.
When Lloyd was injured he was hitting with her to get some fitness back, and travelled with her to a few tournaments. In one of these she didnt have a coach so Lloyd decided to take up the job for that prrivular tournament (I cant remember which one it was but it was about Oct/Nov)
It never has been a coaching arrangement, Beecher usually travels with her.
