Wow, just fantastic for Gabi - and those 50 points, once on, are going to push her up to about WR285 early next year, just a couple off her career high of 283!
Not quite sure when Gabi is due back to play now. She is obviously having a (training) break now and have not seen her on any early entry lists for 2018.
Gabi's third career pro singles title, all three on hard courts; her second of 2017 - both at $25K.
This is the 18th Pro singles title of the year for GB women. This is the 40th ITF singles pro title at $25K level or higher of the Millennium for the GB women - the fourth such title of 2017 (Laura Robson - $60K; Gabi - 2 x $25K; Katie Swan - $25K)
And now, the interesting part: In the last fifteen years, every GB woman that has won 2 or more titles at $25K level or higher has gone on to make the WTA top 100. The last Brit players having achieved a multi-$25K+ season to not make the top 100 at some point, were Lucie Ahl & Louise Latimer, who both won 2 $25K's in 2000, but never made the top 100.
Since then, these players have managed it, and all made top 100 and some point: 2002 - Bally (2 x $25K) 2006 - Annie K (2 x $25K); Katie O'Brien (2 x $25K) 2008 - Annie K ($100K+H, $50K+H, $50K, $25K); Bally ($75K, $25K); Mel South (2 x $25K) 2009 - Bally ($75K, $25K) 2010 - Bally ($75K, $25K); Hev ($50K, $25K) 2011 - Annie K ($75K, $50K+H) 2013 - JoKo ($100K, $25K) 2014 - Hev ($100K+H, $100K); Naomi B ($50K, $25K) 2015 - JoKo ($100K, $50K) *2017 - Gabi ($25K x 2)

Data I post, opinions I offer, 'facts' I assert, are almost certainly all stupidly wrong.
I'm so delighted to see Gabi win this tournament. I saw her play at Roehampton in 2016 before she got ill, and tipped her then to be the best of the current crop of teenagers. She was completely outplayed in the first set by a very experienced player but worked out what she needed to do, and showed that great fighting spirit she's now famous for. I really hope she's now fully fit again and we'll see the best of her in 2018.
After Gabi's match against Katy last week just seemed to get away from her at the end, and I wondered at it being partly down to her lack of match play, this week she has been very good in tight competitive situations.
5 of her 12 sets reached 5-5 and she went on to win 4 of these. She converted 24/43 BPs as against 15/54 for her opponents ( 6/29 in her last two matches ).
