Sounds like WTA will decide during us open. Riyadh seems favourite with Washington DC and Prague in the running among others. Presumably no British bids.

I'm surprised that the WTA would be prepared to contemplate going to Saudi, however many pots of money are on offer, given the Saudis' continuing systematic discrimination against women under the appalling male guardianship system, which makes them permanent legal minors in the eyes of the state. No amount of exposure to international competitive sport is going to change that, even assuming Saudi women were permitted unfettered access to the event.

A lot of people share this view , definitely. It also, of course, practically impacts the players as expressed here in an interview with Swiatek
Er, yes, but Iga is only complaining about the not-knowing aspect of the finals, nothing to do with SC's point about they shouldn't be in Saudi in the first place

Yes agreed - my original point though was related to the not knowing aspects of all this and it being so late in the day. Sorry I didnt make that clear.

Yes, but the practical aspects of it being in Saudi may well impact Iga more than the practical aspects of not knowing.....

It must be me CD as I feel you pick holes in literally everything I write here. Of course, as always, youre correct.
and Im not sure what Ive actually said that you disagree with as I thought I was agreeing with you? And when I typically do agree with you, as I think i generally do, you still largely pick holes in what I say!
Sorry, Jon, I think you've misunderstood where I was coming from, it was Saudi I was picking holes in, not you, Iga's dithering about her schedule seemed to me to besides the point of SC's serious issue about Saudi's respect of human rights
