Week 43 - ITF ($15K) - Wirral, UK Hard

Thank you, paulisi. Very good work and I am sure I am far from alone in now knowing a fair bit more in general about some of the players as well as being up on the latest events.

The doubles draw has peskies as the four seeded pairs ( indeed they are the only peskies in the draw ). Non-bold prediction - they won't be the four semi finalists.

Well done on Jodie & Freya beating the #2 seeds. A call out for non-bold predictions.

Yes, thanks again for the reports, paulisi, as yesterday.

Interesting to hear about Kasia Pitak.
I may well have got her wrong then (sorry, Kasia!)
Which will be great (but I'll be irked ) - I don't really go for whether they've improved or not - obviously players improve but the point about detection is to recognise those who are likely to make the improvement, before they do.
Great to see 10 British players in R2.
Good wildcard picks from the LTA/tournament too - with three out of four getting wins.

The reports are indeed great paulisi. I was also interested in your comment about Pitak the elder, and confirmation that Anna Loughlan has a great deal of potential. Glad to see Laura Sainsbury making her way back again from injury, she was a tad unlucky in her draw. Also sad to hear about Eleanor Dean, though it does seem to be it now. The other person who is missing at the moment is Manisha Foster, not that she has/ had Eleanor's potential, but she had peaked in the 600s and just won a 10k when injury forced her out, and this year she doesn't seem to have regained very much so maybe she won't play much more either.

Maia wins as di Sarra retires (which is highly irritating for all those with their 10ps on Maia furious - and a shame for Federica - but very good for Maia )

Maia won by retirement. The other girl felt I'll, but Maia was cruising anyway.

Thanks for all your reports paulisi - always good to have a first-hand take on the matches.
diSarra + have withdrawn from the doubles, giving Alicia and Laura S a walkover.

Sam goes through 6-3 6-4. Good fight by Anna, saved 9 out of 11 break points, most of which were in the fourth game of the first set.
Freya wins 6-2 6-4

Another good win for Beth, knocking out the No 2 seed 6-1 6-3

Beth's first set was the best set I've seen for some time. Hardly missed a ball, loads of winners.
Beth definitely will break into the top 500.

Have been saying so for a while smile

Great to hear.

Soto should take a lot of credit too - they were really helpful, I think.

Not to be. Ella lost by 7-5 1-6 7-6(5)

Earlier Gemma Heath lost to the #4 seed Italian 6-4 7-6(1). Very good looking effort.

5 Brits, 3 peskies into the quarters.
