Trying to pigeon hole all my inputs away into a single thread, this is basically tennis apartheid.

Trying to avoid getting involved in this but if there is to be a thread for this sort of stuff, shouldnt it logically go in the forum section called Tennis Predictions, where one can see many different prediction style threads being displayed. Not sure it needs to take up the GB Mens Discussions space?

Just a thought. I'll be off again.

I'd forgotten there was a tennis predictions section. I've moved it there and that also means I can make it sticky, so hopefully that makes everyone happy (he says, knowing that's a forlorn hope

Actually it's not absolutely clear whether the "wacky" adjective is really applying to "predictions", which is probably folk's first thoughts, or the overall "thread" or maybe both. Enigmatically unclear probably works

Certainly quite a number of Vandy's predictions are far from wacky though one could imagine this thread becoming so.

Liam top 100 by Wimbledon 2018 ? As Jaggy suggests certainly on and surely not a wacky prediction as of now. Four months ago people may have much more raised their eyes. Maybe indeed "mid level bold".

WR 100 is currently on 536 points. Liam went into this week with points since Wimbledon 2017 = 174 from 8 counters. His SF 29 points take him to 203 points and the title here ( and he looks to have a really decent chance ) would take him to 254 points, nearly halfway there in less than half the time and he's been generally on the up.

My own gut feeling is a "no" and that is my prediction. I just doubt it will work out as smoothly as that, though I now do think Liam will reach the top 100 at some stage. But it could be by Wimbledon and that would be great!

My 'worry' about Liam is simply I don't understand what happened when he managed to get to 150 or so two years ago and then suddenly fell away and spent quite a long time languishing in the bleak 250-300 area.
He wasn't seriously injured (as far as I know). There are obviously a lot of other potential reasons (mainly personal), as well as no real reason at all, just 'one of those things'.
And I know it's not linear, there's bound to be fits and starts.
And other people may have a far better read on why.
But it bothers me and would be one reason why I wouldn't predict that he'll be top 100 by Wimbly time.
And hopefully will be completely and utterly wrong.

Liam's scheduling will make the biggest difference. He seems to like the US, so perhaps the pre Indian Wells US swing off 250/500 events will suit him. The early Asian challengers have been tough this past couple of years with Youzhny and Tipsarevic dominating. Youzhny is back ranked at challenger level and may attempt to reel off some more tournament victories.

Not even backing liam for top 150 to be honest, but if he cracks 100 that'd be awesome!
