Sadly not. Just too much going on. Currently sitting in Lisbon airport on my way back from Brazil. Then I have clients looking to buy houses this weekend. Sadly, trying to earn money takes precedence over spending it at the moment. To say I am gutted would be an understatement.

Oh well, a pity, but I know the feeling ! At least you are in Europe and not time zones away

Perhaps I should add that if anyone on the forum wants to buy a house in Spain, it would help finance my trip to future DC ties and other tournaments and that would mean more Bob on site reports and scoops. Now thats worth buying a house for wink

From Twitter
Stuart Fraser

Kyle Edmund on Davis Cup: "My intention is to play as I love Davis Cup and representing my country. My body has a few niggles and the transition from any surface to clay is not an easy one. Things are improving and Im taking a day at a time at the moment."

Just for interest, the DC draws are coming through today. Jap v Italy is through, and Kazakhstan v Switzerland. But the most interesting one so far is Australia v Germany: lots of talent on display in Brisbane, De Minaur is only 18 as we know and will be v interesting to watch and of course Kyrgios and Sascha. Mischa called off with an illness I believe.

Friday
Alex De Minaur (AUS) v Alexander Zverev (GER)

Nick Kyrgios (AUS) v Jan-Lennard Struff (GER)

Saturday
Matthew Ebden/John Peers (AUS) vs Peter Gojowczyk/Tim Puetz (GER)

Sunday
Nick Kyrgios (AUS) vs Alexander Zverev (GER)
Alex De Minaur (AUS) vs Jan-Lennard Struff (GER)

Serbia v USA draw about to come up and no doubt GB will be sometime later this am.

GB draw is at 12 noon GMT. Edmund may be facing a fitness test. Tsonga has pulled out of France tie v Netherlands, Mannarino replacing him (not sure if Mannarino has played before? World #25 as well, that is depth I wish the GB team could muster

Edit : Although France have selected Pouille and Gasquet to play singles , Herbert and Mahut getting the doubles nod...how I bet they laughed with Yannick Noah when he told them that, eh!?

Liam plays Ramos-Vinolas first up, followed by Cam v Bautista-Agut

Jamie and Dom play doubles Saturday, nominally Carreno Busta and Lopez are the opponents...

I think this is a very sensible call. It's most unlikely we would win this tie, even with Kyle, and not worth risking him when he's clearly injured and has the whole season ahead of him. Hope I don't sound too negative, and obviously wish Liam and Cam all the best, and hope they enjoy the experience.

What a shame but I agree it is the right call. It is going to be a tough ask but as massive underdogs, we have nothing to lose. Good luck to the team.

No complaints from me either, wrap him up in cotton wool. Kyle playing unless he is 100% fit is a loose loose situation. Time for Cam and Liam to shine.

Very surprised it even got as close as it apparently did and that Kyle was apparently being considered. Well, that's assuming they have not been playing mind games with the Spanish and Kyle really just flew in to support the team and knock a few balls about.

But maybe it wasn't quite the no brainer that Kyle's issues from the Aussie Open kind of suggested. Otherwise it's praising the obvious.

Pity, but in a way relieved too.

Liam is giving a good account of himself. two ways of looking at it: Ramos-Vinolas (ARV) is winning comfortably and cruising; or the way I prefer is that Liam hasnt played on clay in several years, on his DC debut in Spain, on red clay and the score is commendably close with Liam playing some decent points. However, he does appear to be injured slightly with a limp, which may just be cramp of course, given the massaging that is going on.

Nonetheless, decent spirited fight by him. Well done

PS Japan v Italy two five setters over nearly 8 hours, 1-1 and a dog fight -- classic DC tie.

PPS De Minaur pushed Zverev to 5 and Australia come out 1-1 for Germany in day one.
