Thankfully my enormous gamble on Roddick paid off, though it was quite a close run thing according to the Beeb report. Leaderboard update [to include imoen]: USF: 191AM Indiana: 133AM Murraysbarmyarmy: 123AM Michael: 110AM, Madeline: 103AM Imoen: 101.5AM Mkkreuk: 78AM
Don't want to be a pain, but I just don't understand these figures. Hadn't checked any before but I was aware that USF was making big gamble on Andy Roddick for potentially little gain and was surprised he gained so much.
Assuming position after day 6 is correct I get lower day 7 position for both USF and myself. Didn't check any other.
USF first :
Had 128 AM after day 6.
Staked a total of 67 AM for day 7.
Gets back in respect of 3 winners :
Ljubicic : staked 5 AM at 1/8 : stake of 5 AM plus wins 0.62 AM so gets back 5.62 AM
Roddick : staked 50 AM at 1/8 : stake of 50 AM plus wins 6.25 AM so gets back total of 56.25 AM
Nalbandian : staked 5 AM at 2/5 : stake of 5 AM plus wins 2 AM so gets back total of 7 AM
Loses stakes of 5 AM on Davydenko and 2 AM on O Rochus
So total staked = 67 AM. Gets back total of 68.87. i.e. wins net 1.87
So sholud now be 128 AM + 1.87 AM = 129.87 NOT 191 AM
Indiana :
Had 130 AM after day 6.
Staked a total of 15 AM for day 7.
Has one winner :
Ferrer : staked 5 AM at 6/4 : stake 5 AM plus wins 7.50 AM so gets back total of 12.50 AM
Loses stakes of 5 AM on Davydenko and 5 AM on Ferrer
So total staked = 15 AM. Gets back total of 12.50 AM i.e. loses net 2.50 AM
So should now be 130 AM - 2.50 AM = 127.50 AM, NOT 133 AM
To me, it looks like a misunderstanding of betting. I can just about agree new figures if you add on the original stake in respect of the winning players.
i.e. USF add on 5AM + 50AM + 5 AM = 60AM
129.87 AM + 60AM = 189.87 approx = your fig of 191 AM ( it would have tied up if each win is rounded up to higher 1 AM, however problem is that the 60AM should not be added on )
Indiana add on 5 AM
127..50 AM + 5 AM = 132.50 AM approx = to your fig of 133 AM ( again would tie up if winning rounded up, however problem again is that the 5 AM should not be added in )
Problem best illustrated by 50 AM on Roddick at 1/8.
You stake 50 AM, you win 5.62 ( i.e. 1/8 x 50 ) so get back 56.62 and gain a net 5.62
You don't gain 56.62. Hell, or I would have had a bit of that ! Lose 50 AM if Roddick loses, gain 56.62 if Roddick wins - I don't think so.
Sorry again to be a pain, and hope I've been clear. I just think that there's a misunderstading of how wins are calculated.
