Liam Broady

Liam topping off a much improved  spell recently by qualifying and then reaching semis in Aptos 100k Challenger. Sensational 1st round win over Bemelmans followed by straight forward wins against two pretty decent draws. Hope he can make the final. Has he made a Ch Final before?

Once - he made the Charlottesville Challenger final back in 2014, losing to Duckworth AUS

Liam was interviewed by Mike Cation last night during the Fritz v Sandgren match.

livestream.com/ATP/events/7647910/videos/161123691

The interview starts almost exactly 30 mins into the video as Fritz goes 3-1 up in the first. And don't worry if you can't hear Liam at the start as they obviously had a few microphone problems for about the first 20 secs of Liam's reply. It gets better after that.

Very mature interview from Liam, I thought, talking about the reasons for his slide last year and what it taught him. Also that his desire to make it is stronger than ever.

Yes thanks Bob, it is a great interview, Thai food plug and all smile But it is good to hear Liam sound at peace with his game at the moment and I hope he can continue to make good progress. It's been great to see his recent return to confidence again.

Agreed, very pleasing to see Liam doing so well and sounding relaxed. In all the interviews I have heard him do he comes over well and in this one you feel that he has confidence and understanding about what he needs to do to have success at this level. Great post thanks

Yeah, Liam's interview game is stronger than his tennis game. Been so forever. Good to see him doing well, but the test is to see if it can last.

Glasspool could learn a thing or two by how Liam conducts himself.

Here is another interview with Mike Cation and Liam. This one is more extensive and recorded after his final against Bublik.

I guess the Davis cup will give both him and cam that confidence they can play on clay and compete with the big boys

Chasing the cash with little to defend?

Liam has only 50 points to defend before Wimbledon, so I'd expect him to go grab some more over the next three months. And of course Cam has just 29 points to defend in the same period - all from the early grass court tournaments. I'd expect them both to make the most of the opportunity

So to confirm Liam's articles above, Liam is entered into the Tunis Challenger on clay w.c. 16th April

www.menstennisforums.com/19-challenger-series/941880-%2475-000-h-tunis-tun-2018-%7C-apr-16-a.html

If he stays in Challengers, the clay circuit goes to Francaville in Italy, Ostrava in Czechia, followed by various options w.c. 7th may onwards.
