Oh, somehow been missing this entertaining to and fro.
Yes, for me Vandenburg is a quite entertaining alternative ( says he, trying not to encourage ). Couldn't be doing with too many like that but fine with the rubbish at times ( IMHO ) and being alternative can actually sometimes be usefully thought provoking and not so rubbish.
Yes, no doubt he likes to create a reaction ( and there are occasionally others like that ) and one can choose to react or not. But if and when I have felt the urge to get into a little debate, which is then responded to I probably have more issues with the occasional "zzzzz"s ( maybe try many other forums if you think we get off the point of pure tennis talk too often and I think sometimes things are worth challenging though I respect that some others don't ) that come from other sources. You can just bypass if you want and I have occasionally given advance warning.
And, yes, "gangs" for me is nonsense. Most hardly know each other from Adam and just say what they individually think. A big majority often individually thinking and expressing similar thoughts doesn't make a gang.
That was solid from Liam but his opponent played poorly. I tuned in after Stevens prompt on twitter, Liam looked confident and did what was required, he's grinding away out there. Some big points up for grabs now 1 more win to be back in the 200s.
Missed the match as was out. But that's a great result in terms of making the 1/4's. Also one win away for an SE for Vancouver, haven't actually checked that he's entered.
QF: (Q) Liam Broady WR 336 vs Raymond Sarmiento (USA) WR 295 (= CH)
Sarmiento beat Quentin Halys in three sets in his second round match. Halys had dumped out the seventh seed, Casper Ruud, in three sets in the first round. There is now only one seed left in the draw, Tennys Sandgren (6).
