Liam fought his way through that one. Great to see his form continuing. Would love to see him make a final.

Liam does it!  It was a very good win, all the better for because he wasn'r necessarily the best player for much of it.  Mike Cation (commnetator) was talking of Sarmiento having some trouble with movement, but I didn't notice it.

Congrats mate!

Good win. First Challenger Semi since April last year. 4th or 5th overall.

Liam up to WR 282 on live rankings. A SF win would put him up into the mid 250s.

If only Liam could play consistently for a full season, rather than from July onwards....

Bold Prediction: Broady will finish the year ranked higher than Norrie and about 130

Two more wins and the title here and Liam will be ranked higher than Cam on Monday ( Liam's 95 points going on would combine with 65 points coming off Cam.).

Doubt either will make top 150 by the end of the year. WR 150 was Liam's declared target earlier in the year and he may not be a million miles off, but I reckon miss out. Still very pleasing form.and progress of late.

Definitely pleasing after last year when he was entering challenger qualifying and going out in the final round seemingly every week with no points to show for his efforts. I was worried after dropping so low in the rankings that he might quit so great to see him fighting back like this.

My impression (from doing the top 25 tables, I haven't checked in detail) is that Brits generally tend to do better in the 2nd half of the year than the 1st.

Great stuff from Liam anyway

SF: (Q) Liam Broady WR 336 v Taylor Fritz (USA) WR 131

Fritz did indeed take out Sandgren and there are no seeds at all in the SFs. What's more, Fritz was really hanging on physically towards the end having struggled with a groin injury from midway through the 1st set.

I would never wish injury on anyone so this is an observation and not a desire, but I wouldn't be surprised if Liam won by a w/o tomorrow.

Noble sentiments Bob, but me, I am nowhere near as charitable!  I won't mind if Taylor can play at a limited level for 40 minutes though, just to give everyone something to watch!

Your 'bold prediction' from four days ago was:

"Bold Prediction: Liam will be ranked outside the top 200 by the end of season."

You can't boldly predict every eventuality, I'm afraid.

Also, after a decade without any Brits getting Challenger SEs in successive weeks, it looks like Liam has managed it just a week after Cam did!

Vancouver have tweeted that Taylor Fritz has got one of the special exempt places (I hadn't realised he hadn't entered in the first place but he was due to play Cincy qualifying) so I'm now wondering whether Liam will get one after all. Sam Groth is already a main draw DA, so he doesn't need one but Bublik (who, like Fritz, would have played Cincy qualifying) probably does and they are both ranked higher than Liam We'll know in the next 24 hours.
