Bally was a rock for the Scottish team last year, and looking at the teams I think they'll need all her fighting spirit to be able to take it this year.

MURRAY THE TARGET AS RUSEDSKI EYES END-OF-YEAR SCALP
Former British no.1 Greg Rusedski returns to Aberdeen next week to lead a five-strong England team against Scotland in the second Aberdeen Cup team tennis challenge. The 33-year-old will be intent on reversing last year’s 4.5 pt – 2.5 pt defeat to Andy Murray’s Scotland.
The most eagerly anticipated matches of the weekend will be Rusedski’s two singles clashes against Murray, the current British no.1 and world no.17. Last year’s tally ended honours even with Rusedski winning the first encounter and Murray fighting back to take the second – his first career victory over the former world no.4.
“I really enjoyed my two singles clashes with Andy last year,” said Rusedski. “I think 1-all was a fair result in the end and it’ll be interesting to see what happens this year. I feel in pretty good shape so don’t expect him to have it all his way.
“I’ve got some fond memories of last year’s Aberdeen Cup. The crowd really got behind the two teams and the atmosphere was exceptional. I look forward to returning to Scotland again next week for what should be another great event,” he added.
Rusedski’s season has been blighted by injury. He was forced to retire from his first round match at the Stella Artois Championships in June suffering from a hip injury. The same injury then forced his withdrawal from Great Britain’s Davis Cup tie against Israel in July.
“It’s been a tough year on the tour but an exciting one away from the court with the birth of my daughter, Scarlett, earlier in the year. The Aberdeen Cup presents a good opportunity for me to at least finish the year on a winning note.”
Rusedski has been told that he may need surgery on his injured hip but is yet to make a definitive decision on his long-term future.
“My future is by no means decided and I’m still weighing up my options. I still feel I’ve got some good tennis left in me, but I have to listen to my body and make the right call at the right time.”
When that time comes, Rusedski believes that, in 19-year-old Murray, the future of British tennis will be left in very good hands.
“For over a decade Tim and I carried British hopes at events across the world and it’s fantastic to be able to pass on the baton to someone with as big a future as Andy.
“He’s an exceptional talent. It’s amazing how much he’s come on in the last 12 months. His first ATP title in San Jose and his victory over Roger Federer in Cincinnati showed that he can mix it with the very best and he deserves all the success that comes his way. He’s got a massive future.
“Brad Gilbert has really added some steel to his game. His fitness is no longer the issue that people were making it out to be and I think he can go on to great things.”
Indeed, Rusedski believes that Murray could be the man to inspire a whole new generation of young British tennis talent.
“He’s a fine ambassador for British tennis. He’s extremely focussed, passionate about the game, and I’m sure that he’ll inspire kids all over the country to pick up a racket and give the sport a try.”
The Aberdeen Cup takes place at the AECC Press and Journal Arena on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th November.

It is surprising...it was live last year...maybe Andy only rising to world No 17 wasnt good enough for the ratings
Maybe whens its Scotland v Spain with both Andy and Rafa top 10 they might show it live...!
Anyway I will be doing live updates and live scoring will be provided from the event web site.
very dissapointed, is there any chance of a live showing like last year--- i know its only england scotland but still i have sky and i jsut cant believe that with the repetitive crap they regurgitate again and again and again they dont have space for this **** THEM **** THEM ALL- MURDOCH BITCH, KICK HIS ****IN FREE MASON AUSSIE RUN THE WORLD MEDIA ARSE
ALSO- if they didnt want to televise this due to it being a minor exhibiton then WHAT WERE THE ORGANISERS THINKING. Bar a contract why has this fixture been repeated
ENGLAND HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER IN TERMS OF TENNIS AND WHY ISNT TIM HENMAN PLAYING- this was a big mistake on the organisers part- you got one top player and one retired and loads of crap all mixed together- what did they expect- should of been spain or even france or even someone like Belarus would of attracted more attention with max mirni- apologies for the rant but this annoys me as when you have sky you see the constant **** they out out
Bit unfair to say that England have nothing to offer wih regard to tennis. Even if this is true, an England-Scotland duel always captures people's imagination. Greg Rusedski is a good well known player and also is not officially retired yet, to say that Scotland-Belarus would be a bigger draw is crazy.
