Yes. Swan wins 4-6 6-3 6-4. That's a good win that, the PNG is generally considered a talent, she's not necessarily young but she apparently gets very little funding or backing and a lot consider her much better than her ranking. The bookies had this nigh on 50/50 at the start of the match and that normally wouldn't happen with a promising Brit circa 150 places above a 25 year old in the mid 300's.
Paulo Badosa Gibert next I think, another promising youngster, who enjoyed success in the GB events at the start of the year and has generally had a good 2018 and been in some main draw WTA events.
Katie Boulter v Yanina Wickmayer Heather Watson v qualifier Johanna Konta v Kurumi Nara Gabi Taylor v Donna Vekic (that one is tough! Last year's winner)

Was just about to say they all look tough, but then remembered it is a main WTA event with a pretty decent field. Hopefully a Fed Cup repeat for Jo and we saw Wickmayer lose that 3rd set badly against Dart so Katie would have definitely taken that. Really tough for Gabi, but will be a good gauge to see where she is at against the defending champion who has looked a lot better generally of late after very disappointing form post Wimbledon.
Hev's form is worrying, but there's nobody in the qualifying draw who you would particularly worry about. Not saying there's nobody capable of beating her, but she should start as favourite vs them all (as she did vs Gabi though...)

I think all of the grass events have decent fields, minus the odd event in Southsea(?) What you get in a short season like grass, very few other events to play in so they all congregate at the same events to get practice.
Wow, Eden a break up vs Ruse, 4-2. She was in a good position last week vs Fourlis but didn;t win either set so hopefully can at least get a set here. I like Ruse's style and she has had some impressive wins these past few months - Kuzmova, Hogenkamp and particularly Pera on the main WTA stage so a good performance from Eden so far.
Watching Tara at the moment. She's a bit chunkier than when I last saw her, which must be a couple of years ago now, but she's hitting the ball nice and cleanly and placing it well. At the moment Imanishi cannot handle her power and she's won the first set 6-2. One more to go Tara.
As said above or on either the Surb or Manc thread, it's so hard to follow all these matches. I was looking forward to the RG final, but it's generally been on in the background here. But yeah, I was thinking the same re Tara,
If Katie can't win that, she shouldn't be getting a Wimbled MDWC
Interesting WC strategy, going on one match, unless you are getting very close to 50/50. Needless to say it wouldn't be mine but then I already saw Katie S as having done enough.
Anyway Katie won and Ace Ventura added some context re the PNG player.
