Still can't believe the turnaround after set one. I was expecting something like 6-2 6-2 or 6-2 2-0 ret. Very well done Miss Swan, great to see. Forgot their were 6 qualifiers not just 4, so we're looking at (in my order of preference):
To be honest, I'd say all of those were winnable apart from maybe Rybarikova. I was kind of hoping she would draw Hev so that one would get through, but looking at the options, there are much better choices out there. She's beaten Rodionova twice and Duan isn't the best on grass.
Hopefully she remains fit as this is an opportunity and decent points already taken up.
Broke Zheng twice in set one but lost it 6-3, but is 2-0 up in the second :)
Was super impressed by her when I saw her lose to Katie S at Surbiton last year...one of few Brits you'd describe as fully 'solid' on that day.
Funny, isn't it. I saw Ella lose to Alice Gillan, in two sets, at Roehampton. And the one thing she was not was solid. She sulked and threw a complete huff whenever she missed a ball.
It shows that players are different on different days, in different conditions.
Laura is playing doubles here with Hao-Ching Chan (TPE) and play Falconi and Cabrera Hev partners Buzarnescu and face the top seesn Kichenok (UKR) and Kudryavtseva (RUS). The Katies receive a WC and face third seeds Rosolska and Spears JoKo partners Wickmayer and play Diyas and Saisai Zheng.
Well Tara takes the second set 6-3, but it's a strange match. Tara not serving very well, but when she gets a serve in, she seems to win most of the points.
Ruse sounds like she has taken now to shouting to put Tara off. Some very prolonged loud noises emanating from her, and definitely on occasion whilst Tara is trying to hit the ball.
Interesting you say that Michael. Looks like the umpire has noticed, given that he gave the point to Tara when Ruse shouted come on before Tara had actually played the ball.
