Week 24 -WTA International ($225k) Nottingham, Grass

Be interesting to see how Katie Boulter gets on against Wickmayer too.

Well done to all the girls/women. Out of six, we had three wins (two against seriously higher ranked players) and, apart from Freya, in the two other matches our girl had a serious shout. Good performance.

Brilliant win for Ella Taylor, to go with Tara's and Katie's wins, really chuffed for her! Eden can play an elegant game, but just needs to hold her nerve more at those crucial times. Such a shame she didn't win that first set TB, since then the second set would have been an entirely different proposition for her.

Still 3 wins today, 2 well against the odds, and Katie's against a more than handy opponent, is probably more than most would have estimated at the beginning of the day. Let's hope some of the form can continue into the QR2, would be great to see Katie and/or Tara qualify, and Ella to at least give Zheng a decent go.

Great results from Tara and Ella. Good chance to qualify for Tara youd think and 5 or 6 games for Ella would be a great achievement.

Managed to get a visit in to Qualies today.

Haven't seen much of the women previously so was good to see some that I haven't seen before.

Great win for Ella, she's so tiny, but really dominated the second and third sets until the injury time out which twisted her melon a little I think, but she hits a very good ball, brilliant placement and backspin.

Tara Moore was very dominant, never in any danger of losing and looked very comfortable and hits the ball really well, though she is a big old unit and doesn't move all that great. She'll still be a real threat here.

Eden Silva started well, but Ruse just won the ground strokes battle, I would have liked to see Eden mix it up more she let her opponent get into a rhythm and I think varying her speeds and lengths more might have brought rewards, but she played pretty well.

Burrage also battled well, and hits some decent shots, but bit inconsistent and doesnt move too well.

Katie Swan played well in a tight and competitive game. Didnt see Freya at all sadly.

Here's the odds for the FQR

Swan 11/10 vs PBG 4/6
Moore 10/11 vs Ruse 4/5
Ella 8/1 vs Zheng 1/25

Tara was actually the favourite in her match today despite the ranking difference, Ella was obviously the big underdog. Hopefully she can get a few games as Jaggy says, but it'll be a tough ask. But to emphasise a phrase that has been used regularly during RG, she's 'playing with house money' after that win today and jumping 300 odd places in the rankings.

Probably for the best to be honest. Nice insight though.

Hmm, *1-3 in the Swan match. The Spanish girl hasn't lost a point on serve and at the moment looks a level above.

Not getting any better. *1-5, a couple of double faults in Katie's last service game, broken to 30. 12/12 points on serve for Paula.

Katie just broke.  Lovely rally ending in a drop shot to bring it back to 30-30. Gilbert then double faults and hits it out under pressure for Katie to break. Didnt see the first set but Katie must be playing much better as she didnt get a point on the Gilbert serve until well into the match.
