Superb

Having been away I haven't seen much of the play to comment on the quality, with I see variable comments as her run progresssd. But a WTA Mandatory title is really great to see.

Jo essentially started the year great, following up her Shenzhen QF opener with her Sydney Premier title and Aussie Open run ended by Serena in the QF ( and I certainly saw quite a bit of great form then ) with a bit of a dip through Fed Cup and then Indian Wells on her return after a few weeks out with a foot injury apparently suffered at the Fed Cup. Hence my ( and other ) querying of some comparative 2016 / 17 comments fairly early in this Miami thread, pretty debatable and surely OTT even then.

Whatever, post Miami a new CH of WR 7, race # 2, points on the board in 2017 from just the 5 individual tournaments = 2075, including a Premier Mandatory title, a Premier title and a Slam QF. In 2016 she reached that points total in her 16th tournament ie. 2143 points from 2016 alone after her Stanford Premier title in July and no run even through the second half of last year comes close to matching her points start to 2017, and often clearly very good play.

As I said after her second match here "Certainly I don't see much to worry about for now"

Point taken; I was meaning as she has now won at the Premier Mandatory level the next stop on the upward journey is Grand Slam smile
