basically not Melbourne...oh and definitely on hardcourt because of a deal done with the USA several years ago that made it a commitment to stage next Australian based quarterfinal v USA on hardcourt! Wow.
And the London Evening Standard is a bit more equivocal:
Andy Murray to make late call over Great Britain's Davis Cup quarter-final against France
Andy Murray will be given until the last minute to make a call on his Davis Cup quarter-final participation. Great Britain are scheduled to take on France in the tie from April 7, with the clay surface at Rouen announced yesterday as the venue for the clash.
Tomorrow will mark a month since Murray's last competitive match, a surprise fourth-round Australian Open defeat by Mischa Zverev, but the world No1 returns to action on Monday in the Dubai Duty Free Championships. He is then scheduled to play Indian Wells and the Miami Open. Should he reach the final of the latter - just five days before the Davis Cup starts - it would give him little time to prepare for playing on the clay surface.
A spokesman for Murray today told Standard Sport that "no decision has been taken as yet", but pointed to the fact the player had been "broadly positive on it a few weeks ago".
Earlier this month, Murray said he was hopeful of playing in the tie, but the Scot's camp now says that depends on how things go in the US.
If Andy doesn't play - who would you pick? Evo hasn't played on clay for years, Bedene is inelligble. James Ward hasn't played for months. Then we are into the 200-300 rankings...
Evo 0/2 in 2014 on clay and 8/2 in 2013 playing nobody in particular. No clay since according to tennislive data set but he is surely the only option if Andy doesn't play.
And, continuing the theme, PHH is out of Miami with a thigh injury. His latest tweet says he's withdrawn to give it some rest, so as to get better as quickly as possible.
Crumbs, players dropping like flies and the tactics will start tomorrow as the 10day four man teams are named.
Could be a tricky one this for Noah, only 2 players can be changed out before the 1day team so if he goes with too many injured, unfit or possible doubts he'll left high and dry.

Tough one for Leon too. Kyle obviously gets the nod, along with Jamie and Dom. That final spot though, where do you turn? Outside of Evo, who has little previous on the dirt, who do you go for? Is Cam any good on clay (contextually speaking)? The only player in form is Jay Clarke really, but as impressive as his progress has been, is an away tie on clay in France in the DC likely to do more harm than good at this stage? Or is it a free swing, nothing to lose?
Sure is a shame Aljaz can't play, he'd have been a shoe-in for this tie.
I would not send Jay Clarke in: he is indeed in form and doing brilliantly for the stage of development he's at. But against one of the French? Even if they were without all of their top 5 (all in the top 25), they'd still have Mahut, Mannarino and Chardy. Not a fair thing to do. I would take him as a hitting partner: his work and potential should be recognised. But it's hard to see beyond Mr Evans and Mr Norrie for the team.
French news reporting that Noah is likely to name Lucas Pouille, Gilles Simon, Nicolas Mahut et Pierre-Hugues Herbert
BUT that it's just names, and that it's likely to change because he has the right to change two out of four within ten days of up until one hour before the draw on Thursday
I don't know the rules or what they're talking about - surely ten days before is today?
Anyway, the big question is whether Paire will make a reappearance (after the toxic fall-out at the Olympics).
It's a big ask, but I wouldn't rule Kyle out in either of those singles match ups on the red stuff. Given Kyle's recent slight dip in form, a combination of clay court and team environment might be exactly what he needs right now.
As for Evo, he is the right choice obviously, but he is a real wild-card on the clay.
