In the singles, Ms Swan is in the only section of the R3 draw that does not contain at least one US woman: there are 9 of them. In the doubles, she and her partner are now up 2-0 in the second set.
Edit: 10. There's a story on the US Open website - I'd missed one.

Good that Katie is busy. The full last 16 singles draws and QF doubles draws are scheduled for today so anyone still in both will have two matches scheduled.
I heard via Twitter that it was her partner Bianca Vanessa Andreescu who pulled out due to injury (interview on Canadian news), and Katie's shoulder injury wasn't the reason, although it did hamper her serve in the singles.
Stuart Fraser's article confirms what The Addict says (Stuart added in his ITF round-up article that Bianca had a 3 hour marathon singles in the heat) and gives further quotes + information on Katie's next tournaments
Interesting. Not so sure it's as much as keeping her body fit as getting her body fit, especially if she's had this shoulder issue for a few weeks and it affected her serve so much.
After the frustrating year she's had I get that she no doubt just wants to play, but I'm not sure ...
