Perfect response to being given a WC Laura - congratulations. So excited to see this recovery and being able to build on the Landisville victory is very encouraging.
26 members signed in. Laura's been playing then ( and no other Brit just now, in singles anyway ). Whatever some folk say or think she does attract much interest.

Well done Laura! Whatever clicked in her brain after she lucked out against poor Tara the other week, thank goodness. Wonderful to see!
I think even before the match against with Tara, and during that one, she was more determined, in particular tracking down balls, but now she's rediscovered the fluency in her game with the confidence of wins. Quite remarkable really, is it possible she could get on a similar run to Jo's, that's probably an unrealistic dream, but nothing's impossible.
Four players in the main draw of US Open, it must be a few years since that happened.
The last time we had 4 women in the singles MD of the US Open was 1992, when our quartet were: Sara Gomer, (Q) Clare Wood, Jo Durie, Monique Javer
Let's hope we do better than 24 years ago, as only one of them back then got past R128. Clare Wood made R64. Let's also hope for no repeat of the reason for one getting through back then; Clare beat Jo in R128 (with respect to Indy's point earlier about getting at least one guaranteed through).
There are a couple of different clips on twitter of the set point in the first. Good confident forehand strikes - setting up the point nicely. She seems to get better with every match as the confidence returns.
Brilliant effort from Laura. Who would have thought after losing to Chanel Simmonds a few weeks ago that Laura was about to start an 8 (or more) match winning run. She really has gone from being miles away from a competitive level to right there in no time.
Maria was a difficult opponent and looks like Laura really had to dig deep to win the first set before running away with it in the end.
Great to see Laura Robson re-discovering her form. Fingers crossed she gets a kind draw, there are some nice sections of the draw but some really horrid ones for qualifiers so we can just hope for the best.
