I could swear that umpire is actually Tatiana Golovin.

Naomi starting.

Heather just isn't hitting through the ball, on a treacly Montreal court, and is making too many simple unforced errors on standard rally shots. Her groundies don't look grooved like they did when she first appeared on tour.
She had BP on both opening Stosur service games, couldn't take them, and then in a long second service game of her own, she was broken. An UE. I think she must be at a dozen already at least. It's not the same Heather that she was 4 years ago, the game has changed, but not improved - other than the first serve when it goes in.

I thought the 1st 3 games were very good, but her head dropped because she hadn't made the breakthrough.

 I agree.

I still disagree
*2-5 and Stosur hasn't really had to do much except wait for the Watson errors, which have flowed regularly.

Also don't think it's a great matchup for Hev, with her lack of height finding it tough to return the vicious top spin/kick shots which come off Stosur's racket.

CD will be happy to see that her favourite British coach is in Hev's box this week ;)

Hev breaks back, after playing some impressive BH crosscourts in one rally in particular.

DF ends the set 5-7

Naomi recovers the break. Despite serving only 38% first serves, she actually leads that stat, as Pica is on 37%, *2-2

What a frustrating end to the set, played great to get back into it, but then committed harikari to lose it.

Naomi gives away her serve with careless errors 3-4*

Standard of play has been awful so far

Stosur gifts a break back to Heather with a truly wretched 3UE, 1DF service game broken to love. We'll take it! 5-7 *2-3

Naomi's serve hasn't turned up so far. 8 dfs. 1 ace. 39% first serves in play as she self-destructs again, twice on game point she dfs. 3-6

This hasn't been a good 2nd set.
