Other events - week 26

In Cuba, G5:

R1: George DAVIS (GBR) (born 2001)    4-6 6-1 6-3     David RODRIGUEZ (CUB)

R1: Daniela NUNEZ (CUB)     7-5 6-4     Kate CUNNINGHAM (GBR)

In Aruba, G4, Holly Fischer (our best 2003 girl, in my view, and a serious hope) has qualified easily for the MD. Will be interesting.

In Greece, G5, Natasha Carter, Millie Devey Smith and Alice Thane all failed to qualify.

But in the MD there is (wc) Victoria Allen (last week's doubles winner, playing with Maria Budin) and Ryan Gaskin (5)

And in Ukraine, G5, Freddy Grant has drawn the 5th seed.

No good news in Greece:

R1: Petros TSITSIPAS (GRE) def. Ryan GASKIN (GBR) [5] 6-0 7-5

R1: Galatea MESOCHORITIS (GRE) def. Victoria ALLEN (GBR) 6-3 6-7(5) 6-4

In Ukraine, Freddy couldn't follow up his great win yesterday:

R2: Freddie GRANT (GBR) lost to Gilad TAMAR (ISR) 6-3 6-3

But 'little' Holly, who's not so little, acquitted herself very well in her first ITF junior tournament:

Aruba, G4:

R1: Holly FISCHER (GBR) (born 2003) UNR def. Ariana RODRIGUEZ MORA (ECU) JWR 900, age 18 6-0 6-1

R2: (1) Kariann PIERRE-LOUIS (USA) JWR 151, age 17 def. Holly FISCHER (GBR) age 13 6-4 6-3

That should get her her ranking. And will be the first of many points to come.....

Just to give a face to go with a name, here's Holly F:
