But with all the TBC ones left Dan will get one? If not, that is pretty brutal.
BBC reporting says - All England Club sources say the decision was based on a matter of "principle". https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/44546730.
So they unless they change their "principles" in the next few days they can't award Dan one of the remaining WCs (MDWC or QWC) - the exception would be if he loses in play-off final as losing finalists have often also been given a QWC, but then would have to give the other losing finalist a QWC as well.
I have to agree with everyone that this is an appalling decision. With 5 MDWCs unallocated there is clearly a huge dearth of suitable candidates and yet they are still determined to dish out further punishment to Dan. It's not as if he's depriving anyone more deserving of a WC. As you say i just penalises half the draw in the pre quals. I just despair....
Who actually makes this decision is their a wildcard committee? Wouldn't Leon Smith have a say as the LTA Head of Men's Tennis or Tim Henman isn't he on the Wimbledon committee?
Bunch of Tories on the committee not surprised at their double standards to be honest. If I was Dan I wouldnt bother in some ways, play elsewhere and knuckle down work his way back and tell them to shove it.
Middle class toffs running tennis in this country wondering why we havent produced any top players in decades. Go figure guys, but hey as long as you sit there sipping your pimms and eating your rip off strawberries milking fortunes out of Wimbledon they who cares right?
Totally agree with this sentiment.
Its shocking that Dan has not been awarded a WC of some sort.
Its this same social class that are totally out of touch.
Draw will be out tonight. There is a fact sheet on the LTA site - I can't access it from my tablet, but will look out for more info when I get home. Takes place at Wimbkedon, behind closed doors, Thursday and Friday

By the way Ive tweeted about this #aeltc. I think its worth giving them feedback! Organisations hate negative social media!
I've also tweeted Wimbledon and the LTA with similar feedback, but I'm not convinced they give a hoot what we tennis fans think - far more interested in their own so called "principles"

Yes, Leon and Tim were part of the committee.
Although I'm normally all for giving the youngsters a chance, I do think that giving FOUR q wildcards to juniors is too much.
Jack Draper has no adult ranking, only about 40 in juniors, and - in my view - should have waited till next year.
Anton Mat is a similar case.
There should be a balance.
Dan's exclusion - even from a Q wildcard, for Lord's sake, - is off the scale.

He will lose in the final and be the only one who doesnt get one.
I fully support Dan not getting a MD wildcard but not getting a qulaifying one is disgusting. He is perhaps our best chance with Andy's lack of matches (and some doubts if he will even play) and it perhaps not being Kyles best surface so asking him to have to play 3 matches just to get into qualies then another 3 just to get into the main draw is ridiculous.
And this principle excuse is ridiculous, it was coke ffs which you dont use to cheat in tennis. It shouldnt have even got a sporting ban, its a criminal matter not a sporting one.
They were happy to use Sharapova last year to make extra money so apparently Henmen and co's principles go out of the window when they can profit from it. And there are plenty of actual proven cheats playing, if they really had principles these actual cheats like Cilic would never be allowed to step foot inside Wimbledon's grounds

Yes there is a committee. Henman I believe is head of it but Leon is apparently on it for mens decisions (and Bates for womens)

It is a shame we never found out whether they were going to give MS a main draw wildcard last year, we could really run wild with the AELTC's hypocrisy here if they had done
