For Laura: Court too short, court too narrow, net too high.
If Laura can cut the unforced errors down though, I actually think Petko is there for the taking today.
The general underlying game continues to look in promisingly improving shape, ground strokes are fine, no radar. But movement is still as it ever was - at best, below average.
Rats! Good, focused Julia has turned up from the start. Jo finding it hard to get out of neutral *1-4
Laura about the same as the first set. She's fine whe she has time to hit a single massive, pure shot. When she has to move, she invariably loses the point. Tighten up the errors and take the chances, still hope. 2-6 1-2*
Goerges very good, easily deserved the first set at that score. Jo flat. Hard to know how much is Julia, and how much is her own malaise on the day. Work to do. 2-6
Petko giving plenty of gifts to Laura, 4 DF in her 2 services so far, allowed Laura to break back, but Laura broken to love in response. 2-6 2-3*
Laura: 2-6 2-6 37 UE in 128 points played. 30% If you take Ace's out, and Petko's DF, it's 37 UE in 114 points played. 33% - one third of all points. You can win matches like that, but not often.
Such high hopes at the start of the event, but looking very much like Hev will be our lone representative in R2, as Goerges is suffocating Jo's natural game, and not yet having any of her bad patches.
