Over on Lenglen a Mr Djokovic has won 6-2 6-1 6-4 and is getting all a tingly again ( don't let it effect you too much, mate ) about possibly completing a career Grand Slam.

Murray was undone by a couple of ridiculous bounces at the end of the 3rd set, as the ball clipped the line.

Into a 4th set.

Normal service was resumed in the fourth set!  smile  The defending champ is dethroned! smile

SF:  (2) Andy Murray WR 2 defeated (3) Stan Wawrinka (SUI) WR 4 by 6-4, 6-2 4-6 6-2

*****

Final (his first at R-G! biggrin ):  (1) Novak Djokovic (SRB) WR 1 vs (2) Andy Murray WR 2

No need, I think, to trot out the dismal head-to-head yet again. hmm

Had all the answers today. Questions on Sunday somewhat trickier, but I'm hopeful.
Fine work, sir, one more to go.

Yay

Andy moves into his first French Open final and tenth Grand Slam final in all ( currently 2-7 although 2-2 other than those pesky Aussie Open finals )

Now won the majority of his Grand Slam SFs ( 10-9, OK he'd just be 5-8 if it weren't for all these Aussie Open SFs )

Great match by Andy.

There will be a new French Open champion on Sunday. Just remember Andy that Nole doesn't have a good record in the final!!

Think that was a marvellous performance by Andy especially when the French crowd were supporting Stan!

Fantastic performance battering one of the big boys.

Throughly deserves his status as a tennis great, the list of players to reach all 4 slam finals is not a long one!

The weather looks rubbish for Sunday, I don't know who a broken long match over a couple of days would suit best, Nole or Andy.

I believe he's only the tenth to do so. smile

Time to WIN another Grand Slam though and get 3/4 ( or 4/5 ) of the way to be a legend - career Grand Slam and Olympic Gold ...

That and / or total Grand Slam WINS is what can really cement Andy's name in history in the wider populace.

He is indeed only the tenth: www.atpworldtour.com/en/news/murray-wawrinka-roland-garros-2016-semifinals-friday. And he is also tied with Becker (and ahead of Vilas, Newcombe and Courier) on total finals.

What will we do when he retires? I've become quite used to enjoying the second week of Slams, knowing that there will be continued interest through to the end (or close to it). One forgets that only four countries (de facto) have had that luxury on a regular basis for ... oh, the past seven/eight years or so. We are, as the French would say, pourri gâté ... spoiled rotten and thoroughly enjoying it! Thank you, Mr Murray.
