Weeks 21 & 22 - French Open 2016 (inc. Andy) (clay)

Djokovic's record vs Berdych goes to 24-2 ! Hopefully young Mr Thiem will prove rather troublesome in the SF.

Imagine getting beaten 24 times by Novak. Err, his record vs Andy is 23-10.

PS: I see Novak's in the 20 plus wins against a few OKish players, all overall winning records :

Nadal : 26-23

Berdych : 24-2

Murray : 23-10

Federer : 23-22

Wawrinka : 21-4

See joko trying to suck up to the crowd at Rolland Garros by taking a bow with a ball boy this new bow he does bugs me to be honest! Chrissie Evert said on Eurosport today that joko trying too hard to court popularity he was booed after the rain delay!

With the women's SFs delayed a day and joining the men's SFs on Friday, both Chatrier and Lenglen are being used for them.

Chatrier hosts :
1 pm local ( noon BST ) : S Williams vs K Bertens
NB 3 pm local ( 2 pm BST ) : S Wawrinka vs A Murray

GOAT. Easily better than Federer ever was.

And tickets for Lenglen went on sale at something like 20 Euros. Nice if you happen to be in Paris!

More seriously, over on the juniors thread there was discussion around the juniors' scheduling. They've been treated even worse than the senior players: I counted at least four today (all seeds, I think) who were down to play two singles and a doubles match in one day. That's absurd.

Meanwhile, don't know if it's mentioned elsewhere, but:

Men's Wheelchair Singles QF:

Gordon Reid def. Nicolas Peifer (FRA) 7-5 6-3

Men's Wheelchair Doubles SF:

(2) Gordon Reid/ Shingo Kunieda (JPN) def Gustavo Fernandez/Joachim Gerard (ARG/BEL) 6-2 6-3

Better than Federer ever was - debatable. "Easily better" I simply disagree. And 23-22 directly between Novak and Fed is clearly very close.

True, adding to the HtoH stats Nadal leads Federer 23-11, largely built up in clay. So that's a negative.

Ferderer at his best though was pretty awesome.

GOAT is subjective as era and opposition count for a lot along with technological changes to equipment etc. I know I would certainly prefer to watch Federer in his prime than Djokovic, I can admire Novak but I rarely enjoy his matches.

Indeed. And the Head-to-Head statistics are inherently going to flatter Mr Djokovic because of the age differential. Federer was at his peak from 2004 to 2007; Djokovic's first match against him was in 2006. And the only match Djokovic won against him before 2008 was one very tight match in the Canadian Masters. Indeed, up to the point in 2010 when Federer was the age that Djokovic is now, the record was 10-5 in Federer's favour. The record's been balanced by Federer's continuing to play at an age where very few play at this level.

Good points, Spectator :)
The GS wins tally is definitive in my book. Federer is still the GOAT on that count.

We have been really lucky having Federer, Nadal and Djokovic all overlapping; Andy less lucky on that score!

Only the 2nd game but Wawrinka looking ominously good so far.

I had a feeling Stan's high viz outfit might  be more helpful to Andy than him
