Alastair Gray has struggled so far on clay, but gets another opportunity to hone his game here. Jodie Burrage has the chance to emulate Victoria Azarenka and Belinda Bencic , who won here previously
Boys R2 (L32)
(6) Alastair Gray v (Q) Leonardo Taddia (ITA) or Federico Iannaccone (ITA)
Good win for Jodie who meets another Italian in the semis. Alastair benefited from a retirement (because of flu if I understood the Italian report correctly)
Girls QF
Jodie Anna Burrage d. (8/WC) Lucrezia Stefanini (ITA) 6-3 6-4
Brilliant win by Alastair, in a baseline duel (according to the match report) against a player who beat him en route to a G2 title recently. His semi-final opponent has won a handful of Futures matches, and Alastair will need to find a way past him to have any chance of a DA for Roland Garros as he lost out in the doubles semis
QF
(6) Alastair Gray d. (16) Andrea Guerrieri (ITA) 6-3 7-6(5)
Great stuff from Jodie who in just over an hour comfortably beat an opponent who had won 20 consecutive matches at lower grades a few months ago - and followed up with the doubles title. She plays her partner (who has been ranked as high as 850 WTA) in the singles final. Unfortunately no joy for Alastair in singles or doubles (where the ITF reversed his semi)
Boys SF
