Boys & Girls: 1st Qatar ITF Junior Open, Qatar, hard - Grade 4 (Week 12)

We have a large number of young Brits inscribed for the main draw here (including the mysterious young Najia)

In the qualis, there's Paul Jubb, fresh from his recent first trip abroad with the LTA to Scandinavia, where he made the final in Norway, before losing to Jack Draper.

QR1:  Paul JUBB (GBR) [3]     5-7 6-3 6-2     Alessio DE BERNARDIS (ITA)

QR2:  Paul JUBB (GBR) [3]     6-2 6-1     Juan David RAMIREZ (COL)

A perfect day in Qatar:

I'm very pleased for Damian, who took out quasi-Brit and second seed, Abdel-Aziz in two sets. I saw Damian play a month ago and thought he had a very good game - one of the more interesting and promising of our youngsters (not quite all in place yet, and quite tall so a little ungainly at times, but some really good stuff there).
A very good result for Aidan too, who is one of the LTA's faves, and up with the Smith clan in Glasgow, I believe.

Boys QF

(4) Joe Tyler def. (Q) Paul Jubb 6-0 7-5

(6) Aidan McHugh def. (3) Menelaos Efstathiou (CYP) 6-2 6-2

(8) Damian Rodriguez def. (2) Mohamed Abdel-Aziz (EGY) 6-2 6-4

Aidan and Damian play each other in the semis so a guaranteed finalist.

Girls QF

(1) Megan Davies def. (Q) Aaliya Ebrahim (IND) 6-2 6-0

(7) Esther Adeshina def. (2) Ania Hertel (POL) 6-4 6-2

The girls are also through to the dubs final. The boys are still on course, in the semis.

Still a chance of an all GB final in the girls as both Megan and Esther came through

Joe won the battle of the Brits and Aidan and Damian also came through - the latter two play each other for a finals spot

We also have a guaranteed GB winner in the boys doubles and the girls, playing together, are in the final of their doubles comp.

Really pleased for Megan, very talented player. Esther has time on her hands, but has the potential to be very good.

Still good to see Esther take it to 3 sets, looks like she flew off the blocks.
